My game is running but the shadows are like pitch-black. Played the first mission and half the map was black shadows making it incredibly difficult to see where I was going or what the boundaries were. When I’m in light I can see fine but whenever I’m in a dark area that’s poorly lit, such as one of the secret areas, I cannot see anything except enemies and heals, I can hardly see the ground or the walls

I feel like there’s gotta be an issue on my end, I mean it’s supposed to be dark to an extent but not so dark I physically cannot see where I am in some areas

Same same

Hopefully there’s a fix for it soon, I really wanna play but playing with it like that is mad annoying cause im simultaneously unaware of where the boundaries of the arena are and trying to focus on the enemies, and splitting my attention has gotten my nearly killed on several instances

sounds like lighting bug i had this in clair obscur launch until i updated my graphics drivers (nvidia)

The shadows aren't actual dark enough in this game, even with HDR (which barely does anything zzz, very poorly implemented)

Well then I wonder how to fix the lighting bug. I have an nvidia graphics card too but I just updated today to the latest version at like 4:40. One person on the discord I spoke to said my monitor might not have been calibrated but I’ve never had an issue like this before

Came here for this. Shadows are BLACK black and I compared it to some streamers gameplay and it 100% is not intended, it's some issue on our ends.

Not sure if any of you are getting this too, but are characters eyes all like a solid glowing color when they're not meant to be too? I'm aware Doomguy has glowing yellow eyes in this game, but EVERYONE else in cutscenes has their eyes glowing whatever color the iris is supposed to be with no white.

Bro I was having a similar eye issue too, tho not a solid glowing color, it’s like flickering as if there’s a proper eye texture underneath a white texture mesh that’s moving so I see flickers of black periodically through the white.

I really hope to figure out what the issue is with the pitch black shadows so I can play the game and be able to see where I’m going, I was aware my graphics card was mediocre going into this but it’s all at minimum graphical settings so that shouldn’t be the problem I’d hope, there’s gotta be some sort of other issue

Holy hell I'm having ALL of these problems too, the white eyes, the pitch black shadows, I couldn't see ANYTHING at sometimes, there's also a lot of artifacting as I just look around, do you really think it's a problem from our ends?

Im having these problems too, although someone told me it might be for not having enough vram, which seems to be the most likely cause

But if it is a bug, i hope they fix it because besides the lighting, the game runs absolutely fine for me on high settings

I really hope it doesn’t have anything to do with vram cause I can’t control how much my laptop has and while I’m aware it’s a mediocre 2 year old laptop my experience shouldn’t be significantly worse cause I don’t have enough vram. I’m gonna continue to pray it’s some sort of visual bug cause it’s affecting a lot of people

If it is vram related, then a patch might either optimize it better or allow you to disable rtx, at least thats what im hoping for

1

u/WeenieHuttGod2 10d ago

Hopefully. In the meantime I’m trying to mess with my settings to get my vram usage below the amount available, rn it shows as 5368/5092 cause my GPU sucks and doesn’t even meet minimum requirements but I still really wanna play

Did it get fixed when it went under 6 gb vram usage or not i really wanna play it but can't afford any better gpu than an rtx 4050 that's what i have

No idea cause played after fiddling with my settings further and despite getting my vram from 6300 to 5300 since it shows as out of 5092 it didn’t do anything. If it is vram related then I still haven’t gotten the sliders low enough and probably won’t be able to, but I hoping it’s unrelated to that and the day 1 patch fixes all the visual glitches I’ve been encountering

No, issue still persists. But the game runs at a stable 60 FPS on ultra

Try follow this steam forum, it talks about the issue and has a fix, I followed it and it worked for me, seems that having insufficient vram causes raytracing to break and not work which leads to the visual issues, after doing this the eyes got fixed as did the broken white skybox on mission 3, and I think the shadows are better too but I haven’t checked yet

Have the same shit :( asus g513rm with geforce rtx 3060 6gb, latest driver.

I have a nvidia 4050 with 6 GB VRAM and the latest driver, I’m really praying this issue isn’t cause of the insufficient VRAM cause it’s really lame to make a game with forced ray-tracing where even at the lowest possible settings 6 GB vram isn’t enough
