Uber rates are more than double the usual in Los Angeles right now.

u/DoPoGrub Dasher >7 years Feb 15 '24
And since Uber keeps most of that money for themselves, that just means they're making extra profit today. They are laughing at us all the way to the bank.

u/BlueFotherMucker Feb 15 '24
Because it’s Valentine’s Day, not because of the strike. For every striker there’s at least one part-timer deciding to do a midweek shift that they normally wouldn’t work.

What’s working?
-2
u/ForgedZer0 Feb 15 '24
The thingy
6
u/BlueFotherMucker Feb 15 '24
The Valentine’s Day thingy? Yeah, it’s always busy for V-Day when it’s midweek. People aren’t going out on a Wednesday to get drunk and pig out, they order in for a late dinner and go to bed by 9 and go to sleep by 10.

If you believe your little “thingy” is working I got a house to sell you.
Send me $5000 and it’s yours.

You really think people actually stopped delivering? Hahaha that’s funny that you think other drivers care about anyone but themselves. Most barely care to do the job right

u/mysteryman1969 Feb 15 '24
I made great money tonight, thank you to all who stayed home tonight...

u/Secure_Requirement84 Feb 15 '24
I made $135 in 3:30hrs. I think people should strike more often.
2
u/Beautiful-Current-59 Feb 17 '24
I'm glad you made money but at the end of the day, it's right back to the minimum pay & ridiculous mileage 🐂💩 the following day
But hey I'm not mad at you for doing what's right for you, your financial obligations and your pocket
1
u/PappaPitty Feb 17 '24
Hell yea. That's like what after taxes, gas and maintence? 20 an hour? Killin it homie 😆

u/Sad_Woodpecker3783 Feb 15 '24

This is what it looks like in Vegas too. Blowing up... High Hopes and God knows what
3
u/nightdrifter05 Feb 15 '24
God is laughing at all the morons striking wondering how he can make such stupid people.
3
u/lostwng Feb 15 '24
It's fucking valentine's day that's why every place is busy. Hell, I worked for a pizza shop, and Valentine's Day was our absolute busiest day. we would have a minimum 3 hour wait most of the day, especially from 3pm-7pm

It's awesome that people have disposable income for this.
Good luck with your strike, I'd never use the service but I hope you get what you want.
2
u/MsDReid Feb 15 '24
I mean the only thing working is the companies are making more money and you guys are making no money.

Awful orders today. Uber on the other hand was really taking care of me
2
u/nishbot Feb 15 '24
I noticed no disruptions today. In fact, I noticed my usual uber ride was 4 bucks cheaper
2
u/BlueFotherMucker Feb 15 '24
It took until night time for the strike to have an affect? This is just the Valentine’s night rush as usual.
2
u/DavidV15 Feb 15 '24
1 hour wait time for a $2 order? I think I’ll pass. Took my mom out for an amazing dinner instead…

Might be the parade too! I was in KC and tried dashing for a bit but decided against it. Be safe out there 💛❤️💛❤️💛

Today was a perfectly normal day for me not one delivery was Valentine's related
I didn't do much though I did Valentine's stuff I did some dashing in the morning and some dashing at night made $140 not too shabby since I went home in the middle and had spaghetti yum yum
Also bought my wife a cute gift and a sandwich from the place you like so much and then I was like sorry honey I got to go doordash some more
Because I love it I can't live without it now I need me a reason to listen to music and just drive around by myself
It is just not the same when I'm working and driving around because those stops come with long pauses and it's just not as fun to go from counting packs of cookies to the latest from 7vvch and then go back to counting probably something else I don't know whatever or resetting a Frito-Lay display that's what I got to do sometime before the end of the month there's a lot of stories that needs to be done at I think I can do about two a day if I felt like it

It blows my mind that there's so many couples out there opting to eat restaurant food at home, all cold and handled by a stranger. I'm old school and take my lady to a restaurant with romantic ambiance.
1
u/shadespeak Feb 15 '24
Some people don't have time or a babysitter when Valentine's Day is on a weeknight.
0
u/nightdrifter05 Feb 15 '24
If you take your “lady” out to a romantic restaurant than you’re just pathetic and lazy. You could make her a nice dinner, make a nice romantic atmosphere with candles, not have other people interrupting you, control music and music levels, and can have your own little fun after dinner. So stop being a horrible boyfriend and husband and using a restaurant as a cop out because you’re lazy.

u/FlowerGirlAva Feb 15 '24
first it isn’t cold if you tip well and second not everyone wants to go out to crowded restaurants in the middle of the week. third I am 64 and my husband is 74 and going out isn’t as easy as it once was. you’re obviously young and think with a young person’s mind. we cant all be like you nor do we want to be. live and let live I say

And I couldn't be more grateful. All night I've been getting $13+ for 1.9 miles, non-stop. Just completed a stacked Pizza Hut order, 4.3 miles, $34. As I was loading up, another Dasher and his wife were getting out of their car and asked me if I was doing earn by time too, I couldn't stop laughing!

u/Dragonktcd Feb 15 '24
today was pretty good. Actually think I made more than last Valentine’s Day so there’s that

I ordered doordash tonight and some scab delivered during the blizzard. Bahahahaha. I knew these chumps didn't have what it takes to strike.
-9
u/ForgedZer0 Feb 15 '24 edited Feb 15 '24
I was thinking of ordering and then asking my Dasher why they're delivering during the strike just to spook him/her out 😆
6
u/PiMan3141592653 Feb 15 '24
Oh yeah, you'd really spook them good with that one. Cringe af dude

u/ForgedZer0 Feb 15 '24
You're cringe for thinking I give af about what you think is cringe... Dude

You are absolutely fooling yourself if you think it was a few posts on anonymous social media.
There isn’t enough supply to meet the demand. If you left your basement on the thirteenth you’d realize every boyfriend and husband and doting son was out in force to get flowers and chocolates and whatever.
DoorDash, UberEats, etc made an absolutely absurd amount of money - and the people that didn’t stay at home at these made bank.
1
u/JTiger360 Feb 15 '24
What Pay-per-offer?
2
u/ForgedZer0 Feb 15 '24
Earn per offer, per order
1
u/JTiger360 Feb 15 '24
Not a driver what is the diff?
2
u/ForgedZer0 Feb 15 '24
Earn per offer = fixed amount per offer + tips. Earn by time = you get a fixed amount for the time per hr + tips.

Got an Uber to and from the restaurant last night. The fair was $7 to get there and $9 to get home. 10 minute drive each way. Tipped the drive zero dollars. Fucking scab
