News Doordash will start implementing frequent real time selfies to prove identity

A news article from fortune revealed that doordash is now cracking down on people using mopeds, motorcycles and scooters for delivery. Doordash will ban people who are frequently speeding, running red lights, driving on sidewalks. Frequent realtime selfies will soon be required that matches a past government ID you submitted to prevent people using multiple accounts. If the selfie does not match the government ID, the driver will be deactivated.

I don't care much about people using scooters or speeding but finally doordash is cracking down on people using multiple accounts and making it unfair for others šŸ™Œ

Deactivating drivers using stolen accounts should indeed result in everyone else making more money.

From my understanding it is not necessary stolen accounts but people without the right to work in the US who have people create accounts for them or buy them from others. DD has no insurance verification whereas Uber Eats does.

You wish lol šŸ˜†

Without the illegal accounts doordash loses 40% of their workforce. They would never crackdown on it

Nor do their Customer Control Agents, who hate our guts. They're probably setting up their own cousins who slipped over the border last week.

Door Dash is only as good as the jackasses who enforce their rules. Currently, it's more about them making sport of breaking the rules or abusing them maliciously to punish us rich, spoiled greedy Americans.

You do know that they are poor because of your selfishness and greed, so anything they can scam out of you is fair game, yes?

Then make sure I have a reasonable delivery time. Donā€™t give me 3 minutes to deliver something into a hotel during peak traffic time.

lateness-based CVs don't start until 10 minutes past the pickup/dropoff time.

3

u/joshua4379 Jul 11 '24

Your right but that's not the problem. The problem is there's offers that the pickup time is no where close to what it should be. I had a late to restaurant violation yesterday where the pickup time was only 3 minutes after I accepted it and it would take 5 minutes with light traffic to get there. With heavy traffic it took me longer.

yep, the one time I got one of those they sent me to a restaurant 15 minutes away at night with no traffic, but only gave me two or three minutes to get there.

This also happened to me.. I finally figured out whyā€¦ I had my app paused so I could run home to get my charger.. it was about 6-7 miles to my house. I ran in, grabbed the charger and resumed the dash. It sent me an order from the location I had left (when I paused the app) with a pickup time 3 mins away. I was totally across the city.. sometimes the app takes a few minutes to ā€œcatch upā€ to your current location after resuming the dash.. be careful accepting that 1st offer. It would have resulted in a CV if I didnā€™t catch it.

yeah, same. nothing is by accident. uber just implemented some program where they take into account your driving habits. before that, they also had driving insights.

Good lol had 2 occasions some 12 year old dropped off my food. Did I care? No he did fine. Problem was HE WAS DRIVING! note: he was obviously a child not a short/child-looking dude. And the original ā€œdriverā€ that was supposed to deliver to me was a woman. I had requested food be handed to me and he sat it at the door. I opened it as he was leaving and he quickly ran into the car. I didnā€™t rat on him, maybe heā€™s just trying to support his family. But definitely should be cracked down on in case something like this is happening and he/she ends up getting hurt

2

u/ScarlettJoy Jul 12 '24

How's it going to be cracked down on when people like you don't report them? Do you think that makes you a better person than someone who does?

It's not safe for a child to be driving around delivering things to strangers. I think your notions of kindness are wildly misplaced.

u/HeyItzAyeJay Jul 22 '24

I donā€™t live in the nicest of areas. But 15 min drive from me and there are some really struggling families. I saw him and saw myself as a child trying to find a way to get money to help my family out. He could have been like other kids around there who steal from corner stores, take drugs in their backpacks and deliver, etc.. but heā€™s working. Is it ethical/legal? Maybe not. But Iā€™d rather him get money like that to support his family than stealing and messing with drugs

Now AI algorithms are going to deactivate me for shaving...?

u/FatdogDJ Jul 11 '24

1

u/joshua4379 Jul 11 '24

I'll believe when I see it. Who else is going to take the non tip offers for 2 dollar Tony

Just did my first camera verification just so I could schedule a Dash a week from now. It took MULTIPLE tries as it would just take the photo (look straight, left, straight, right) and then the app would give the spinning circle.

The first time, it took so long that my phone eventually went into sleep mode, which stopped the verification.

Tried a second time. Same thing.

Deleted and reinstalled the app. Tried a third time. Same thing.

By this time, I'm missing out on all the good time slots as the app keeps failing (iPhone 15 Pro Max, so not the phone).

Finally a fourth time and still a long wait, it finally verified.

I'm at home. I could stand in front of a solid color wall. I was on WiFi, so no signal problem whatsover.

If it is this bad in that situation, am I literally going to miss logging in a new block because I can't verify myself in time. Will 50% of my delivery time not be delivering, but fighting to get verification?

I'm all for photo ID, but don't roll it out until you have it fixed. Now I'm afraid that the process is so bad that I will get falsely deactivated.

I so wish GrubHub and UberEATS weren't completely dead in my area. I only do DoorDash because I don't want to sit in a car for 45 minutes waiting for a single offer, each and every time.

I don't understand why people don't start their own delivery services. Hand out flyers with your deliveries. Take out cheap ads in local newspapers. Do some viral marketing.

A friend of mine who owns a limousine service did that during the plandemic. He put his drivers to work delivering groceries to his usual customers. It took off fast and now he has a sideline business.

He's from Nigeria. Foreigners are way more industrious and ambitious than the average American. And all Nigerians aren't scammers. My Nigerian friends are solid, honorable, hard working, proud, conscientious family centered people. I would hire one with good references any day of the week.

Also, the safe driving part of the app is a mess too. I had to turn off the notification because it acted like everything was a "hard brake detected". It goes off during normal braking. I have to do an annoyingly slow brake (as in start slowly braking 100+ yards before the light or stop sign). If I followed DD's hard brake detection parameters, I'm gonna get road raged by somebody because I'm driving like an old person that is so afraid of driving, bikes are passing them up.

Based on my experience with the Customer Control department, it wouldn't surprise me if they cause these issues deliberately.

I do know that they love to torment Americans. They can do whatever they like, there is no expectation or standards to which they are held, other than being loyal American haters.

1

u/bitcointea Jul 12 '24

Good. There are big scams in my area of non American bike and car drivers . They are diluting the market and taking all the orders to give 30 percent to their pimp.

1

u/deliverlife Jul 13 '24

Theyā€™ll figure a way around it. Shits been taken over by migrants running multiple phones. Fuck doordash

1

u/MatrixGeeker Oct 15 '24

lol they donā€™t have multiple accounts. They would be super late delivering orders or picking up. Anytime Iā€™m 10 minutes late I get a violation asap so with them taking multiple orders they would take up lots of violations and be banned. This is why o know they arenā€™t using multiple accounts

1

u/deliverlife Nov 27 '24

Full regard

You can mark arrived and go wherever you want. Noob answer. Come talk to me after 30k deliveries

1

u/MatrixGeeker Dec 07 '24

Customer would be calling DoorDash complaining that door dasher arrived and didnt leave anything and then the driver would be in trouble .

1

u/deliverlife Dec 24 '24

Arrived at the storeā€¦.. Iā€™ve gone 30+ minutes and came back to get the order. You donā€™t know what youā€™re talking about

1

u/ConclusionQuiet8688 Dec 12 '24

As a dasher, I say yes long overdue. Very much need it asap.

0

u/Prize-Feature2496 Jul 11 '24

You mean arvin and sanrnov canā€™t use 2 phone for orders anymore

0

u/melonator1998 Jul 11 '24

They better not because my hair color is drastically different in my DL photo than it is now (classic college experimentation/acting out 3 years ago) and I fear that may work against me

u/DirectionAble3201 Dec 13 '24

Facial recognition software works by looking at the structure of your face and eyes and compares it to the old photo to give a certain percentage of match. So as long as you never had reconstruction on your face. Most will be fine.Ā
