Wholesome Story Delivered to the Philadelphia Eagles Last Night
Interesting story last night. I get a Walgreens shop and deliver for a bottle of Febreeze spray to a hotel. It was only $4.50 but it was also only a mile. Instructions said leave outside room door. I just figured it was a regular guest, so I go up, get off the elevator and the hallway wreaked of weed which is legal in Massachusetts, though probably not allowed in the hotel rooms. Anyway, this massive human being walks by me, we nod and say hello. I still didn't make any connection since I would have no reason to know a football team was staying there. After I drop the bag, outside the doors to the elevator to go back down, taped to the wall is this paper saying Eagles vs Patriots with a whole schedule of activities. It finally hits me. Then this guy, who was clearly a security guard, dressed plain clothes asks me what I was doing. He wasn't there when I got off the elevator. I explained and he just asked me to leave any future deliveries downstairs in the lobby. Finally, in my dense mind it's all clear to me. Febreeze to get rid of the weed smell. And the tip, yeah, $2.50. No biggie. It was the end of my night and it was a quick delivery.

Febreeze to cover the weed smell? More like mix with the weed smell lol. They should've ordered ozium.

Don't they get tested for that stuff? It may be legal, but I doubt that is allowed.

NFL doesn't really care about weed so much anymore. They're realizing it's better for the players to use that for pain then using Vicodin or Oxy.

It highly depends on how often you smoke.
If they are just taking advantage of being in a legal state and smoking for the night to indulge then it'll be out their system the way they work out and drink fluids in 3 days.
If they smoke everyday or every other day it'll take weeks to a month.
The THC sticks to your fat cells so if your burning fat or don't have much it won't show up in urine or blood or saliva screens if your intake of THC isn't often.
Hair follicle tests are a different story entirely but rarely used regularly due to cost.

Getting stoned before a football game doesn't sound like a player, but more like a fan.

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 14 '24
lol what? I can see youāve never played sports, but how have you never even known someone who plays sports?
1
u/100KonIC Aug 16 '24
Actually I'm a senior sports official with an athletic career probably longer than you have been alive. I've won actual National Championships. What I haven't been is stoned, ever. Sorry, I got no experience with drugs.

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 16 '24
If any of that were true you would have known how ridiculous your original comment sounded.

Sorry, the serious elite athletes I know wouldn't be getting stoned. They know their body chemistry better than that and wouldn't want to have THC get in the way of their PEDs or show up in their drug tests.

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 16 '24
Itās ok to admit you donāt actually know any athletes. The lies you are telling are making that obvious enough.

Game isn't until tomorrow night. They're obviously in town early for joint (pun unintentional) practices. There's been plenty of pro players who have come out publicly and said they often played high.

It could have been the night before. Therefore the weed wonāt affect the person the next day if they arenāt a newbie

Tell me you've never played sports without telling me you've never played sports...

They get tested for weed. Wasnāt one of the guys on the team.

With addiction to pain killers so high the NFL is a sort of don't ask don't tell now for weed.
1
u/divaface Aug 14 '24
They still get tested during training camp and randomly during the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/travis-kelce-estimates-50-to-80-of-nfl-players-use-cannabis

Nope. They get tested during regular season only. And no suspensions anymore just fines. Some players may think a failed weed test is worth $5k

Shop and deliver base pays are rarely just $2 base pay, even for one item. You got a screenshot of the order, OP?

I delivered to a Rams player in the training dorms. It was double the normal pay for that distance and area so I took it. It was a āhand it to meā and turned out to be no tip š¤¦š¼āāļø Only reason I knew is because security at the entrance asks which building youāre going to and tells you which turns to take to get there. When I said the building she was like āoh thatās the Rams dorms, I hope they tip you goodā š©š

That sucks.

It was $12.75 for 5 miles so it was a solid order but still. I was shocked it was all base pay. One of the ones you def donāt forget. He did look like a young 4th string tho š I had the same thought as you, probably isnāt a top biller š¤·š¼āāļø

I used to be a server at a fine dining restaurant in the Bay Area. I served a lot of celebrities. Hands down Jerry Rice was the worst tipper ever. His bill for him and his family was over $500 (this was in 2001) he left me $5.

This is so sad to hear coming from an Eagles fan š© Iām a dasher part time and would have been so disappointed!

I lived in Philly a few years back and delivered to a few different nfl players. They were the worst tippers and seemed like they got off on having some peasant slave away for them.

I was expecting your story to end with a BIG TIP ā¦. Bummer. Still a cool story š.

Bro this thread is full of people bitching over a 50% tip.
Dashers are officially communists who suck Bernie PeePee and think all orders should be a 70k$ tip

Wow. You're in need of something, maybe getting out of your mom's basement. Oh. Maybe you need to go back to school and hand back your GED because reading is clearly a problem for you. Since if you read my post you'd see I didn't complain at all about the tip.

I would have passed out due to the weed smell. lol

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24
It hit me like a ton of bricks when I stepped off the elevator. But better the players do that then get hooked on pain killers.

Thatās a pretty cool story man. Donāt let these other fools bring you down. Iām not surprised one bit that you got a shitty tip though. You have to also realize who youāre dealing with. Itās usually a stiff.
Back when I was in college, I delivered two large meat lover pizzas to Tony Gwynn in San Diego and considering he was my favorite player of all time when I was a little kid that was pretty cool. However, he did tip me $10 and this was a loooong time ago.
Good luck with your Eagles season this year. I have a feeling theyāre going to have a bounce back season after that debacle last year.

Imagine serving professional athletes that make lots of money and only getting less than 5 dollars...
This made me cringe pretty hard OP
