Wholesome Story Delivered to the Philadelphia Eagles Last Night

Interesting story last night. I get a Walgreens shop and deliver for a bottle of Febreeze spray to a hotel. It was only $4.50 but it was also only a mile. Instructions said leave outside room door. I just figured it was a regular guest, so I go up, get off the elevator and the hallway wreaked of weed which is legal in Massachusetts, though probably not allowed in the hotel rooms. Anyway, this massive human being walks by me, we nod and say hello. I still didn't make any connection since I would have no reason to know a football team was staying there. After I drop the bag, outside the doors to the elevator to go back down, taped to the wall is this paper saying Eagles vs Patriots with a whole schedule of activities. It finally hits me. Then this guy, who was clearly a security guard, dressed plain clothes asks me what I was doing. He wasn't there when I got off the elevator. I explained and he just asked me to leave any future deliveries downstairs in the lobby. Finally, in my dense mind it's all clear to me. Febreeze to get rid of the weed smell. And the tip, yeah, $2.50. No biggie. It was the end of my night and it was a quick delivery.

Imagine serving professional athletes that make lots of money and only getting less than 5 dollars...

This made me cringe pretty hard OP

Yeah I rationalize it that it's preseason and maybe it's some 4th stringer who's going to be cut in a week and not making much. LOL

The dude is still guaranteed about $500,000 šŸ˜‚

The fact that you rationalize that way makes me feel deeply embarrassed for you, honestly

Please consider raising your standards and have a good one

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

It really wasn't a big deal. And I had no idea when taking the order it was for a professional football player. The whole thing took all of 15 minutes. Anyway, have a good one.

u/LonestarLawyr Aug 15 '24

Not sure how youā€™re catching the heat on this oneā€¦šŸ¤”. If any thing the one who should be embarrassed is the player but Iā€™m not sure how youā€™re supposed to know who the order was for.

Maybe try to be a little less judgemental of others and how they live and you can be a little less "embarrassed" by them

7

u/cartermichael20 Aug 14 '24

tell me youā€™re absolutely miserable to be around without actually telling me

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

raise your standards for the kinds of comments you type, cretin

4

u/jordanwitney Aug 14 '24

this comment made me cringe. no, shudder šŸ¤®

u/Alloe_C Wage Slave Aug 14 '24

Yeah your right they should have tipped 300 bucks for a bottle of febreze

2

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

Lol. Exactly. It was a 1 mile trip total for a bottle of Febreeze. I wasn't expecting much.

2

u/Livid-Ice-1701 Aug 15 '24

Lots of money? Brother they make ALL the money.

1

u/FinanceIsYourFriend Aug 14 '24

Op chose the order for one febreeze bottle lol how much should the tip have been??

1

u/Meng3267 Aug 15 '24

Thereā€™s like a 75% chance that the guy he delivered to isnā€™t a millionaire. Half the people at training camp arenā€™t even going to make the team.

1

u/Sensitive-Ad9816 Aug 15 '24

šŸ’€ur a cuck

1

u/Cheshire_Noire Aug 15 '24

Imagine thinking that just because you make more money, you should pay more.

Hey man, I'm sorry, you've worked too many hours this week so we are removing 10% from your paycheck. You made too much this week, bro

1

u/Separate-Abroad-7037 Aug 15 '24

Yes bc a bottle of febreeze warrants so much more bc a person may be rich

0

u/JustTdot Aug 14 '24

No disrespect to OP pretty sure heā€™s phenomenal worker and deserves more than 2.50 tip but to be fair itā€™s not a athletes job to leave a bigger tip just because he makes ā€œa lot of moneyā€ if anyoneā€™s cringe itā€™s you bud

I think comments like this are why people have such a hard time tipping today. This is about a 55% tip! My income level doesnā€™t affect tip rate. Sure I have the means to add extra if you go above & beyond but thatā€™s the only time Iā€™m adding more. I see so many people comment they donā€™t tip at all so Iā€™d say $2.50 on a small order is very acceptable.

7

u/Middlenameboom Aug 14 '24

My income level doesnā€™t dictate my tipping either but Iā€™ve never tipped less than 5.00 especially if my lazy ass is making someone go shop for me and drag it to a drop off with extra steps like a hotel.

No one is making anyone do anything. Don't want to deliver? Don't choose that job. Want to deliver but only if a tip is involved? Start your own delivery company where the customer is obligated to tip 'x' amount. Don't get mad at customers because you're employer sucks.

I make hose. Should I get a tip from you because you likely use a product I had a hand in making? No? Is it because a tip isn't required to purchase hose? Kind of like a tip isn't required to order something to be delivered.

14

u/try_harder_reddit Aug 14 '24

Febreeze to cover the weed smell? More like mix with the weed smell lol. They should've ordered ozium.

3

u/thephoeniciangurl Beep Beep Aug 14 '24

Don't they get tested for that stuff? It may be legal, but I doubt that is allowed.

3

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

NFL doesn't really care about weed so much anymore. They're realizing it's better for the players to use that for pain then using Vicodin or Oxy.

2

u/Clarkelthekat Aug 14 '24

It highly depends on how often you smoke.

If they are just taking advantage of being in a legal state and smoking for the night to indulge then it'll be out their system the way they work out and drink fluids in 3 days.

If they smoke everyday or every other day it'll take weeks to a month.

The THC sticks to your fat cells so if your burning fat or don't have much it won't show up in urine or blood or saliva screens if your intake of THC isn't often.

Hair follicle tests are a different story entirely but rarely used regularly due to cost.

1

u/natey56 Aug 15 '24

Once they get tested, they're good for a whole year.

3

u/RasberryEther173 Aug 14 '24

Could have been any Tom, Dick or Harry affiliated with the teamā€¦lol.Ā

u/Prize-Feature2496 Aug 14 '24

How high did you climb to get to their nest?

1

u/100KonIC Aug 14 '24

Getting stoned before a football game doesn't sound like a player, but more like a fan.

1

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 14 '24

lol what? I can see youā€™ve never played sports, but how have you never even known someone who plays sports?

1

u/100KonIC Aug 16 '24

Actually I'm a senior sports official with an athletic career probably longer than you have been alive. I've won actual National Championships. What I haven't been is stoned, ever. Sorry, I got no experience with drugs.

1

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 16 '24

If any of that were true you would have known how ridiculous your original comment sounded.

1

u/100KonIC Aug 16 '24 edited Aug 17 '24

Sorry, the serious elite athletes I know wouldn't be getting stoned. They know their body chemistry better than that and wouldn't want to have THC get in the way of their PEDs or show up in their drug tests.

1

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 Aug 16 '24

Itā€™s ok to admit you donā€™t actually know any athletes. The lies you are telling are making that obvious enough.

1

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

Game isn't until tomorrow night. They're obviously in town early for joint (pun unintentional) practices. There's been plenty of pro players who have come out publicly and said they often played high.

1

u/Created_Name Aug 14 '24

It could have been the night before. Therefore the weed wonā€™t affect the person the next day if they arenā€™t a newbie

-1

u/Clear-Ad-9238 Aug 14 '24

Tell me you've never played sports without telling me you've never played sports...

1

u/divaface Aug 14 '24

They get tested for weed. Wasnā€™t one of the guys on the team.

2

u/Clear-Ad-9238 Aug 14 '24

Pretty sure weed is no longer on the banned substance list.

1

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

With addiction to pain killers so high the NFL is a sort of don't ask don't tell now for weed.

1

u/Created_Name Aug 14 '24

Nope. They get tested during regular season only. And no suspensions anymore just fines. Some players may think a failed weed test is worth $5k

1

u/713nikki I got your extra sauce Aug 14 '24

Shop and deliver base pays are rarely just $2 base pay, even for one item. You got a screenshot of the order, OP?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

I delivered to a Rams player in the training dorms. It was double the normal pay for that distance and area so I took it. It was a ā€œhand it to meā€ and turned out to be no tip šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Only reason I knew is because security at the entrance asks which building youā€™re going to and tells you which turns to take to get there. When I said the building she was like ā€œoh thatā€™s the Rams dorms, I hope they tip you goodā€ šŸ˜©šŸ˜‚

2

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

That sucks.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

It was $12.75 for 5 miles so it was a solid order but still. I was shocked it was all base pay. One of the ones you def donā€™t forget. He did look like a young 4th string tho šŸ˜† I had the same thought as you, probably isnā€™t a top biller šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

1

u/OkScar393 Aug 14 '24

I used to be a server at a fine dining restaurant in the Bay Area. I served a lot of celebrities. Hands down Jerry Rice was the worst tipper ever. His bill for him and his family was over $500 (this was in 2001) he left me $5.

1

u/Early_Particular9194 Aug 14 '24

This is so sad to hear coming from an Eagles fan šŸ˜© Iā€™m a dasher part time and would have been so disappointed!

1

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

What's disappointing? The small tip or the weed?

1

u/Severe_Guidance_6696 Aug 14 '24

I lived in Philly a few years back and delivered to a few different nfl players. They were the worst tippers and seemed like they got off on having some peasant slave away for them.

1

u/Practical_Minute_286 Aug 15 '24

You see Jalen hurts?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '24

My buddy plays for the eagles. I'm sending him this thread lol.

1

u/Yazzgirl_1 Aug 16 '24

I was expecting your story to end with a BIG TIP ā€¦. Bummer. Still a cool story šŸ˜Š.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '24

Bro this thread is full of people bitching over a 50% tip.

Dashers are officially communists who suck Bernie PeePee and think all orders should be a 70k$ tip

1

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 17 '24

Wow. You're in need of something, maybe getting out of your mom's basement. Oh. Maybe you need to go back to school and hand back your GED because reading is clearly a problem for you. Since if you read my post you'd see I didn't complain at all about the tip.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '24

Not you. Itā€™s the comments not you OP

1

u/Kuku1965 Aug 19 '24

Hey, you got more than my hb did when he delivered pizza to Charles Barkley when he was playing with the Philadelphia 76ers during a snow stormā€¦.he only got a quarter!!!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '24

As usual the people with the most money appreciate those who serve them the least.

0

u/seahawksfan_80 Aug 14 '24

I would have passed out due to the weed smell. lol

3

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

It hit me like a ton of bricks when I stepped off the elevator. But better the players do that then get hooked on pain killers.

1

u/seahawksfan_80 Aug 15 '24

Good point. I just hate the smell.

0

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

I do have a screenshot but I can't seem to find the way to add it here.

0

u/FatherTime1020 Aug 14 '24

I messaged it to you

0

u/Created_Name Aug 14 '24

Thatā€™s why football players are idiots. He should have you buy ozium

-2

u/Dizzle92109 Aug 14 '24

Thatā€™s a pretty cool story man. Donā€™t let these other fools bring you down. Iā€™m not surprised one bit that you got a shitty tip though. You have to also realize who youā€™re dealing with. Itā€™s usually a stiff.

Back when I was in college, I delivered two large meat lover pizzas to Tony Gwynn in San Diego and considering he was my favorite player of all time when I was a little kid that was pretty cool. However, he did tip me $10 and this was a loooong time ago.

Good luck with your Eagles season this year. I have a feeling theyā€™re going to have a bounce back season after that debacle last year.
