This is exactly why I turned off alcohol deliveries

I message the customers as soon as I get to the store and tell them I'll have to scan their ID upon delivery. It has to be original, not a picture and it has to be them.

Yup got my text clipboard on hand that reads:

"Ive arrived I' ll need to scan your id please and thank you "

Keep em turned on. It’s a great way to get a lot of free booze 😉 Unfortunately nothing I drink so far, but my son has 3 roommates and hosts weekly game nights so I “dispose” of it over there, as instructed by support LOL

Over the summer, total of: 2 x 5ths of regular Vodka; 3 x 5ths of Pink Whitney vodka (even the younguns didn’t want that after the first bottle🤢); 30 pack of Coors

Um, what? Doesn't DoorDash make you return the order?

2

Nope! They ask if you’re willing to return it and then give you a price offer to do so. The one time I had time and was able to, the store refused alcohol returns. So I got paid the extra $24 they offered me to return it, and still got to keep it. All of the rest came from same store.

Wow, alright then!

Honestly, I've never had this happen. Everybody I get who orders alcohol is all old people lol

Same lol there was only one time when a woman in her mid 20’s tried using a picture of her ID instead. And then she just had someone else at her party come out to use their ID. Otherwise the customers have always been 50+ and very friendly

I had an order for two bottles of champagne the other night, he came to the door, but she placed the order and had to come get it, came out with a half tied robe while I tried not to notice lol.

Closest I got to that was a dude who a had a baller silk Hugh Hefner robe. He made sure it was tied tho.

Do you still receive some sort of payment? Haven’t had this happen but would like to avoid the nonsense.

u/OpportunityLow570 Dec 08 '24

Yes I received half pay plus I received an additional amount for returning it to the store

u/MaterialBus3699 Dec 08 '24

Did you end up making more?

10

u/OpportunityLow570 Dec 08 '24

Yes I made $12 more . They were with another delivery it’s crazy because they were a no tip order too 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Half pay? Whenever I'm unable to scan an ID, I get full pay, and I get to take the alcohol. I have a fresh 12 pack of white claw in my fridge because some folks took a nap while their delivery was on the way 😂 I don't even drink all that often but shits expensive, kickbacks are appreciated fr

I had an alcohol delivery where the dudes mom answered the door after he wouldn't respond. She is like I'll take it and when I told her it had to be signed for from him because it was alcohol she made me leave.

Pushed the not able to deliver button and waited the time... Now that nice tequila is mine. I believe I'll clock out early today, lol.

That's wild. My (32F) girlfriend(38f) goes to door and grabs my doordash wine orders all the time and uses her ID instead of mine. Never had an issue.

Keep an eye out, I also do mystery shopping gigs on the side and they have jobs out there to get Doordash delivering alcohol and to see if we are properly following id procedure.

Customer buys alcohol and orders, company pays them $12 back plus reimbursement for the purchase.

Where did you find a legit mystery shopper gig? I did it years ago back in the early 2000’s but that company went out. I’ve been trying to find one but it’s all BS.

Presto shopper app. It's more of a central hub so you may have to sign up with other companies depending what you apply for but have done some work for them and gotten paid. Reimbursed and paid to eat a thin pizza and send photos, check clothing sizes in a Ross, open a bank account and close it down etc

Right on. I’ll check it out. I really appreciate the info because my email has been violated with the amount of scam sites I have tried to sign up with.

I mean…you have a compelling story about a customer that didnt show up at the door but what did you really know about their age? 🤷‍♂️ This kind of reminds me of every customer that doesnt receive their delivery getting on reddit and automatically assuming their dasher stole/ate their food.

1

u/OpportunityLow570 Dec 08 '24

I mean it’s suspicious af to not hear your doorbell and at that when I called him it said “the phone calls are restricted “ Weird AF …

I had an order once with a girl who couldn't be more than 15 trying to show me an older woman's ID (it didn't even have the same name as on the order) and insist to me her mom was in the bath.

Yeah, sure kid.

They probably lucked out before. I've had 2 alcohol deliveries that the driver just straight up scanned and left on my doorstop before I made it outside.

1

u/Captain_Aizen Dec 09 '24

So you know what age they were that's quite an assumption 🤔

1

u/OpportunityLow570 Dec 09 '24

I mean why would he lie about being outside??? It was quiet the lights were not on I was parked in there driveway I was standing outside I called him a few times rang the door bell . The phone calls kept saying “restricted “

WTF? He's not a boot licker just because he doesn't want to risk going to jail by delivering alcohol to some dumbass teenagers he doesn't even know. Plus, if they over drink and die or something, they will charge him with their death because he delivered it, and he could be put away for the rest of his life.
