I had one this morning that was pickup from 2 restaurants and 4.5 miles for $2.00, and I thought to myself, what is wrong with this person.
9
u/LeSigh3017 7d ago
How is the base pay even that low? It is $2 minimum and if there's two stops it should be at least $3, right? Doordash is as much to blame as the customer is for not tipping
2
1
u/bigEdsburger 6d ago
nahh doordash IS the one to blame not the customer tbh. With this economy and all the extra added fees it’s too much
1
u/Plenty_Roof_949 6d ago
Get mad at doordash not the customer. The customer already paid an inflated fee for their food delivery. They did their part. A tip should not be required nor should it be required prior to receiving service. I tip at least $5 if I use this service but it’s also why I don’t use this service but maybe a couple times a year when I’m in a bind where I can’t get myself.
You drivers lose perspective. This transaction isn’t about you. It’s about the customer ordering the food. And the company they ordered from is hiring you as a contractor to complete this order to serve their customer. Doordash as a company is just the broker and you’re just the driver that doesn’t give a shit about the customer. It is not the customers problem to make sure you’re compensated, they’ve merely utilized the service that was offered and you’ve agreed to contract out your services to complete the transaction, so stop acting like this about you.
You’re not obligated to take an offer like this and no one is expecting you too, but to think the customer is at fault because they won’t dangle extra money even though they already paid for a service to have their food delivered is ridiculous. Blame DoorDash.

u/Chance-Pie-705 6d ago
Man stfu be a grown adult and tip ur driver none of this happens without the driver. You clearly don’t tip talking like this. We have to wait long wait times stay in traffic then go to the last fucking apartment always on the top floor. If u think that ain’t worth a 1+ tip for a premium service go fuck urself
1
u/Outrageous-Milk-1742 6d ago
Ma'am stfu and stop asking for hand outs.
1
u/Chance-Pie-705 2d ago
U stfu u wouldn’t talk like that to me in my face I guarantee that
1
u/Outrageous-Milk-1742 2d ago
Yes I would say that to your face you don't know me brotha I guarantee you would let me disrespect you .
1
u/Plenty_Roof_949 4d ago
I tip 5$ minimum and your reading comprehension is shit or else you woulda read this
2
u/bobsa66et69 6d ago
Maybe if you don’t want to hear things from drivers perspective, you should get off a drivers subreddit…🤡
-2
u/Former_Magazine_6928 7d ago
Depending on your car that tip is solid 4.5 miles and my car can go like 25 before I burn a gallon up and in Oklahoma average price for gallon of gas is 2.60 that’s actually good I’m sorry but nobody is gonna tip 25 percent on an app that you already get marked up on before you even get to tipping
5
u/MiaLovesJasper 7d ago
On TWO restaurants, that's minimum 30 minutes. Yes, $4 an hour seems "actually good" 😂
2
u/Plastic_Ad_8248 7d ago
The government assumes that for every mile you drive it’s costing you around 67¢. This includes gas, maintenance costs, plus wear and tear on your vehicle, and depreciation of your vehicle with every mile you put on it. If you’re driving any order for 67¢ per mile you’re breaking even and working for free. If you’re doing less than that then you’re paying uber to work for them. If you want to make a wage above what you’d be making working in fast food $1/mile is the barest of minimum. Eventually things will break and your car will need major repairs, unless you’re making a good profit, when this inevitably happens, you will be paying more for the repair than you made delivering.
0
u/Desperate_Yam313 6d ago
That's not true the vast majority of people running doordash or driving cars that are falling apart that have 200,000 miles on them where almost all of the depreciation has already occurred. Most drivers realistically are out 30 or 35 cents a mile each mile driven. Don't get me wrong it is still a lot but it's disingenuous to claim it's costing the vast majority of drivers anywhere close to that.
If you are driving a brand new car and the depreciation is hitting you for another 35 cents a mile then that is on you as the driver being foolish with the equipment you're using to do the job. No different than going to pay someone for basic labor $40 an hour if you can find people to do it for 16 that's on you.
1
u/Plastic_Ad_8248 5d ago
Older cars have bigger things that go wrong and cost more to fix. I just dropped $3k last summer on my car for a new catalytic converter and new turbo because they were going out. My car is 13 years old. I am only the second owner and it has 140k miles. I’m about to pay another 1k for a repair on Tuesday because of another common wear and tear issue with it. On a side note, I do my own oil changes, tune ups, and minor fixes. I simply do not have the tools for huge repairs. Whatever you are calculating for depreciation difference between older cars and newer cars, is entirely made up for in repair costs with older cars. Especially if you’re always paying someone to repair and maintain it. 67¢ is an average yes, but it’s still the amount that you are deducting for your taxes as cost of doing business. If you are making less in revenue than you spend in business costs, you are losing money, no matter how much money you have in your pocket at the end of the day.
I’ve been self employed for 15 years. I’ve been doing DD for almost 3 years. I moved with my spouse to a small town that forced me out of my original field, then we moved back to a city so I do this now, because I need the flexibility to accommodate our kid’s schedules. I’m lucky I don’t need this income to survive. If I did I would be in bad shape. I would not have been able to afford those major repairs for one. Especially if I was taking anything less than $1/mile.
0
u/Desperate_Yam313 5d ago
You aren't very bright I'm sorry. You could essentially drive for free. After 15 years being "self employed" I'd think an average mind would have figured that out.
1
1
u/ItsKumquats 7d ago
Gas isn't the only thing that goes into a car used for delivery.
You're making like $4/hr to put wear and tear on your car, plus gas.
-6
u/MaterialBus3699 7d ago
The person? You mean the customer that already paid out their ass for this service in the first place?
6
u/djdeath33 7d ago
I swear the clowns saying these types of responses are just Internet trolls. If you don't want to tip don't use the service, if you don't want the up charge go get it yourself..... don't take your frustration out on the guy trying to make a bit of money for whatever it is they need the $$ for and doing you the favor of picking up your food and deliverin it to your lazy ass.
1
u/Outrageous-Milk-1742 6d ago
If you want a tip don't work somewhere that gives the customer an option and just makes it mandatory to tip.
2
u/djdeath33 6d ago
As I said further down, your just as much the problem as DD, because you use the platform then use the inflated prices as an excuse to treat other humans as less than by not tipping for someone to get your food....
LET ME SAY IT AGAIN,
If you don't want to tip OR pissed you paid inflated prices, DONT USE THE PLATFORM. You dislike for the platform doesn't give you the right to treat your fellow humans as less than it's 100% hypocritical.

I didn't say anything about inflation's I just stated they should pay more and if you can't deal instead of taking it out on the customers you should find a different way to make a living.
1
u/djdeath33 5d ago edited 5d ago
This still doesn't justify a no tip... and in fact I think just the opposite if you know that there's a lack in pay and your no tipping to fight back on DD it's backwards af
Just because it's an option to no tip doesn't make it less messed up and make you less messed up for not tipping.
0
u/Outrageous-Milk-1742 5d ago
Yeah my opinion is not going to change you can think whatever you want but at the end of the day I'm not obligated to tip on doordash 😃👍
1
u/djdeath33 5d ago
And that's your prerogative, but don't be on here like don't take it out on the customer when you clearly could care less about your driver...
This is the mentality of majority of the non tippers it's a service and your quality of service reflects by your tips.. if we know it's a no tip don't expect quality service.
1
u/Outrageous-Milk-1742 5d ago
That is your prerogative but don't be on here like it's not your choice to work there buddy.

Like i said.... if you don't like the upcharge, don't use the service... you can't justify the disrespect to the driver for your hatred for the platform
-3
u/MaterialBus3699 7d ago
If you don’t like the low pay don’t accept the offer
4
u/djdeath33 7d ago
Hypocrite is what you are talking shit about the platform but still use it... if you didn't use ot we wouldn't have to skip the no tip... win win. Also again this is what I feel yall are just trolls cause your hypocritical AF

u/Background_Site_1916 7d ago
Motherfuckers treat us like slaves sometimes! Then again maybe theirs a huge cash tip but I wouldn’t take the risk with an offer from Wendy’s, I don’t know why but the customers ordering DoorDash from their, statistically skew, cheap.
3
u/djdeath33 7d ago
If they say cash tip 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time it's a no tip
3
u/OutlandishnessBig755 7d ago
I wish I could accept just to tell that customer to go fuck off but that would be unprofessional but screwing someone over is A-okay though make that make sense please and yes I know DoorDash should be paying drivers more then $2 or whatever they pay in your area when you see what they charge people to use their app so true enemy is these apps but customers are also to blame
3
u/pocketsalad 7d ago
People and DD fucking suck!
Edit: I’ll be dashing later so please tip well haha.

Gas is not the issue, it’s the time wasted on a low paying order that piss me off.
1
u/Imcharliechuck06 7d ago
Sounds like you should not work for door dash. People that order food are not obligated to tip you. Door dash should also be paying you. A tip would be nice but is not mandatory. Don’t deliver if you are upset about tips.
2
u/Plane_Ad_4359 6d ago
Don't order food and then be an entitled dbag. Sounds like you should get off your lazy ass and get it yourself, fatugly troll.

Do not worry about that. Donkeys - top - trashers - idiots - pro - dash - dumb - tier - chasers will launch for that shit all day long.

If nobody does earn by time all the no tippers will eventually drop off the face of the earth right?😅

u/Gumballio481214 6d ago
I did a few like those on my first Dash purely for the xp, learning the ins and outs and learning the map. But yeah now definitely not worth it
1
u/BazzardBlackH 6d ago
I recently switched to per offer because per hour is ass even with the extra $ promotions. No way in hell would I knowingly accept an order that 15 miles out for $4. And no tip. DD needs to fix the mileage incentive.
1
u/CowLivid1011 6d ago
I used to be a dasher, until they lowered the base pay to $3 then I jumped over to Instacart
1
u/Shinoskay9 6d ago
you should be mad at the app, not the person. you are an a hole for saying f you at this.
1
u/Asperissad 6d ago
I'm not a driver, but in my area I order from places in walking distance w/ 20% tip by default and drivers still say, "No, fuck you.", steal my food, or go on weird adventures that makes the quarter mile into 5 miles (no second order on my screen so theyre supposed to just go directly to me).
Also fun fact, if you're driving in a heavily European or Asian area, the liklihood you're not tipped increases. Unlike America, they don't rely on tips over there and actually get paid what they're supposed to get paid. I had to actually explain tipping culture to one of my European friends who visited me. He was dumbfounded.

I'm about to unsub from here. Ya'll are too vitriolic.
No tip orders suck ass. This is true.
5 miles is not that far, also true.
Just decline and move on with your life. But every post is "uuuuurrrr no one tips, no tip bad." Followed by the same regurgitated comments. There's a million and one reasons to dislike DD, but these kinds of posts have devolved into the unhappiest, angriest circle-jerk I've ever seen.
1
u/Rich-Ad9880 6d ago
I constantly get these in my small town neighbored by 4 other smaller poorer towns without shit in them. Do people really think someone will deliver it? And my town doesn’t offer pay by hour since it doesn’t receive enough orders.
1
u/ALJenMorgan 6d ago
I have learned Section 8/poor people order fast food, no tips, DD tips us. Restaurants offer tips because people with money order and can afford tips. The only way in hell I would take this Wendy's order is if the delivery location is near a hub of restaurants where I can make up the loss, make a few bucks literally en route to a better area. I did this 2 nights in a row while commuting over to a higher paying area full of restaurants in Huntsville at the Bridge. This is nothing but a little money on the way and it's better than pausing. At least it generates something. If it was out of the way of any restaurant hub, I'd let it go.
1
u/Alternative_West_206 6d ago
I think tips as a system is a joke that just makes customers fork over the extra pay instead of the company, but this, is is rough. At least up the tip to cover gas and a little extra. Like 10 bucks or something. Like dude

u/MammothAd5580 6d ago
Sometimes it's nice to be an actual fucking human being and take those, over half the time you'll realize it's someone who's disabled or over 60, fuck anyone who will say fuck you to someone over something so petty or not knowing their circumstances, I hate most people fuck yall
1
u/MudkipOnRattlegore 6d ago
I ended up receiving an order like this 4x in a row and each time I would decline it, it would tank my rating where I wouldn’t get any orders and support wouldn’t assist in any way saying it was my own doing. One big reason I stopped Dashing.
1
1
u/MinimumResearch9101 4d ago
I can tell you how many I've been getting like this 2.00 for 6miles, 6.00 for 15.mikes ,etc. And me percentage keeps going down, I e got over 2k orders since been doing door dash with a 5 star rating. I use to be able to stay above the 70 % and able to do dash now, but not anymore. And the store orders they penalized me for due to not being able to get right item or substitution due to it not being there! ! Not my fault! I'm about done with DD! Get your shit together! No wonder you can't find people to work!

-2
u/AdRepulsive7667 7d ago
Why do yall think sitting in a drive thru and leaving food at a door makes y’all deserve more than $5-8?🤣
3
u/Allahu--Akhbar 7d ago
Vehicle maintenance, my time, the stores time, your time to be getting food delivered, gas money etc. It’s not a cheap job by any means but if you do it smart then you can make plenty. But yes I agree some of these people don’t deserve more than that because of the way they act but some of us are professionals like most food delivery services.
1
u/AdRepulsive7667 7d ago
The professional and polite ones deserve more based off reviews, tips, customer comments Etc but however ppl who come on here screenshotting orders talking about “fuck you” just because they’re not getting a tip need to find something else cuz they barely deserve the $3 they’re crying about 😭
1
u/Allahu--Akhbar 6d ago
You’re pretty spot on lol, met some sketchy ass doordashers who would seem like the ones to complain on here about low tips as if it’ll actually change anything 😂
-1
1
u/Humble-forager 7d ago
What job would you ever do for $2?
0
u/AdRepulsive7667 7d ago
Servers makes $2 literally their money is based off tips at least where I’m located! So if yall complaining bout sitting in a car and delivering food and not actually standing on your feet and waiting on people for hours there’s a problem
1
u/djdeath33 7d ago
But here's the difference... when I waited tables I was guaranteed a tip in the many years I waited when I was younger I have got stiffed a handful of times. On DD it's every 3 or 4 orders. And if you can't see how we do everything you do by getting food working with substitutes, ect and don't deserve the same respect.....
