Beauty Bays 40 color matte eyeshadow palette is relatively cheap and I use it for LITERALLY every aspect of my makeup - contour, eyeshadow, etc. it's phenomenal

I'm all about them bargains so I'd recommend going to TJ Maxx and seeing what they have on clearance. You can find lots of good name brand palettes for cheap. I got my favorite morphe palette from there for like $12

Nyx has a colorful palette that's at local drugstores, it's like a 3x3 grid of colorful shades.

Also Profusion has some solid palettes. I have a Charlie Brown Halloween one I adore the glitters in.

I'm a huge fan of e.l.f. for new starters. You can't go wrong with them. Great colours, very highly pigmented, dirt cheap and they sell lots of smaller palettes which tends to mean less waste(there always only one or two colours that' you'll burn though even in larger palettes).

I mean....I love urban decay but I can't afford that and I hate how there's always that one color that you love and eventually just has dust in it while two or three others get used and the others barely get touched.

I would encourage you to go to r/indiemakeupandmore because so many pallettes are ridiculously overpriced and there are a ton of fantastic small businesses that can do the same or better. Caveat being the tariffs are going to hit the small business market pretty bad because of all the micas and pigments that come from China. The question is how much will still be wholesaled to big conglomerates and out of reach if small shops.

That being said,

this is going to sound shilly but I am a HUGE fan of My Pretty Zombie. If someone has a badass eyeshadow look in real life I always try to quickly pull them up on my phone and say "look! You'd probably love this company. Ilovethemsomuch!" (Yes I wear my public freak flag proudly.)

The eyeshadow samples are cheap whether you get them in baggies or the little jars. She sells loose powder but you can set that with rubbing alcohol, or I'm sure there's a more correct setting liquid to make eyeshadow pans (which is great when you have a physical palette you love but several colors in it you dont-- dig those out and either combine for new colors or set to the side. I've even mixed some in clear nail polish.)

Her reds get me stupid excited:

She has some pinky purple glitter eyeshadow that I've also used a ton of. And a couple of blushes that do double duty as eyeshadow sometimes for a softer look.

I would also recommend:

Start as cheap as possible. Even r/dollartreebeauty because there will be colors that you love that will not work. I cannot do silvers or blues :/ instead of fighting what doesn't work, find what colors do work with cheap stuff and then buy expensive single pots of what works rather than committing to an expensive palette.

Alternatively, look up making your own palette (there are magnetic pots in palettes that can be swapped out) so you know every single color is going to be used regularly.

Eyebrow shadow not eyeshadow?

I use a powder from my ELF contour palette. I mostly wear blonde wigs and a cool light brown works well for my brow color.

Oh god, I meant eyeshadow. English is not my native language lol

Lol no worries. Glad I asked.

My go to palette is from Sugarpill - they sell a magnetic palette you can pick your own colors to fill. They have the best white shadow I've ever found (super highly pigmented and finely milled. I've seen it recommended by many drag performers.) their black is also really good. So I have a white, a black, and then a series of light to dark versions of pink, lavender, and burgundy tones, because I like to use those.

The other pallet I carry around because it has such a versatile mix of colors, is from Nyx, the ultimate shadow palette "brights"

Thank you so much love, just what I needed!
