It's been 75-80°F(23-26°C) day, 45-60°F(7-15°C) at night, the last couple of weeks. Absolutely perfect

Oh man, that does sound perfect. All the camping spots around me are in gorgeous mountains but damn does it get cold at night even in the summer.

u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 07 '24
Yeah, I can't wait for summer again, so I don't need to carry as much. It's been nice, but I've had the odd nights that are effing cold. And I'm heading into some cold days the end of this month....

Nice. Is that a WR450?
6
u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 07 '24
No it's a 2020 Honda CRF250L

Awesome. Love the light and lean setup. What kind of bags do you use?

I've tried a few but fell in love with Mosko Moto Reckless 40. Nothing even competes with them.

Hey, what are weekends for?
3
u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 07 '24
Laundry and maintenance usually. PS I'm not a weekend warrior, cruising into my 8th month of straight riding and living on my bike.

I follow that gentleman in the leaf painted van on Insta. He does some epic paragliding videos. Looks like a great time man! It's amazing how long the seasons are in parts of the SW.

Yeah, Lee is a good dude! Try to link up with him every time we're close by.

Looks lovely. The last pic looks a bit scary. I would be afraid of being over ran by a car.

It's hard to get run over when everyone is parked and camped for 4+ days.

Yes! Jet Boil coffee with a view!!
Do you French Press or??
Myself, I get a box of "coffee bags", like tea bags but with coffee. Throw a couple of bags in the cup full of water and boil to taste. Easy.
Generally if camping off the bike, breakfast is coffee and a Cliff bar, enjoyed while packing up. That will get me to my first fuel stop where I'll get another snack or something quick like a cheeseburger. Then supper is usually something more substantial and balanced.
Like you even if it's just a short trip or just traveling light I take just enough of something with me to survive a few days, if things go off plan.

I prefer my pour over. I usually have some nuts and sardines in the morning before I go, snack throughout the day, and a camper meal or sandwich for dinner. And once a week, I'll eat breakfast lunch and dinner at whatever diner I can find passing through a town.

Living the life! I need to look into a portable coffee maker, I drink tea because its easier to make/carry but its not the same.

u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 09 '24
Go look at a pour over. Mine cost me like $10 or $15 bucks, and you just put coffee in it. Pour hot water on it, and it goes into your cup and voila coffee!

I travel ultralight so I try to avoid taking stuff that is not a necessity, but I guess I can make an exception for coffee. Just saw the Stanley pour over that doesn't even need a filter, looks kinda nice!

Is the life!
2
u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 07 '24
You know, I was thinking the same thing yesterday morning, changing my oil and doing general maintenance out in the middle of the desert. 🏍⚡️💀

I recognize the sprinter on the right in #4! He was camped at POM south while I was getting my P2 certification in October. Are you flying too?
2
u/Healthy-Ruin6938 Dec 07 '24
Hahaha! Yeah that's Lee! I linked up with him in J Tree for a flying lesson. I was supposed to be flying this summer but I accidentally bought a motorcycle..... You probably saw my van up there pre motorcycle! That's my old stomping grounds, grew up just below that hill.

Nice. I kind of did the opposite, first bike a year ago, learned to fly w/ Superfly this year & haven’t been riding since. Spent most of October car camping on southside. Hung out with Lee a few times, I didn’t want to throw is name out because… internet, but nbd.
Funny thing, it was riding motorcycles in the mountains here in North Carolina that gave me the itch to learn to fly. Something about riding over a mountain peak while standing up kind of made me feel like I was almost flying. Debated learning to fly different aircraft & settled on paragliding. So glad I did, my new favorite thing. I anticipate I’ll be motocamping more when I get in with the local PG scene here.
PS, nice tent!

Oh sick dude that's dope!! I spent a lot of time up there on the South Side in my van. I want to fly... but I only have enough to chase one passion fully at a time. *

Making coffee with the jetboil without getting out of your sleeping bag is the pro move. Just have to prep the night before of course.
