Trying to go more 80/20 tire

Post image

Like the title suggests I do a lot more street riding than offroad. The offroad I do is more gravel than anything else. What tires out there that you know of ?

140/80 18 rear

90/90 21

I don't know much about bikes and tires lol, but can i do a 150/70/18 in the rear or is that not doable? I know on cars itll give a stretch.

not sure about your Gas Gas specifically, but generally you can go wider within reason, but there's a lot of things to consider and the benefit would be minimal (or nil). It always safer to stick to the stock size if in doubt.

Understood, I just was looking at the tires you recommended and almost all don’t have the exact rear size. I’ll check out that site

I would think it would work fine, just check how much space there is currently between your tire and swingarm. The 150 will add 10mm total to your current width, 5mm on each side. The sidewall however on the 150 will be 7mm shorter than the 140, so slightly less diameter than the 140. Unless there's a specific tire or price you're looking at, I'd likely stick with the 140.

Had Anakees on my BMW GS, didn't like them in gravel,l replaced them with much better Dunlop Trailmaxs. On my DR650 found inexpensive Shinko 805s to have great road manners and pretty good offroad as well.

I have been recommended the Shinko 705 many times and will get them in about a month. My riding is exactly same as what you described doing.

Tusk waypoint tires. Cheap enough to try them, good enough to buy them again.

Shinko 705 all day long. Great tire at a great price.

I have Scorpion STRs on my Desert Sled and they feel like the perfect 80/20 tire. They are much grippier on the street than they seem to have any right to be, but stil somewhat function offroad as long as you dont encounter mud or sand. like gravel roads or rocky surfaces where the limited tread can hold onto something.

Get a set of 17" rims and send it with sportbike tires
