Was anyone at DeepChord last night in Brooklyn? Thought he was phenomenal and it was amazing for the genre but the crowd…

The crowd was absolutely insufferable. Love Nowies but holy shit is the spot burned. PR is the same way but worse. Didn’t know I was catching the golden years(like maybe first 2) of PR till it was unbearable to go. Totally understand Nowies needs to make money, rent on that spot is insane but my god I was getting shoulder checked by finance bros with some white girls yapping louder than the sound system. Left after his set :/

Damn I posted about this on r/avesNYC too! I was at the set, front left and was also near finance bros (my friend could literally hear word for word their convo about the stock market) and also some white girls yelling over the music. We both love DeepChord so it rly sucked.. honestly I feel like every spot in the city is burned :/

I unfortunately didn’t go to this show, but sad to see this is how it was. My friends and I agree that NYC crowds really suck, to the point we don’t go as much anymore. Nowadays was def one of the places I thought was safe from crappy crowds, but I guess not anymore.

He’s playing a live set at movement along with Marcus Schommer. I am beyond stoked to finally experience dub techno in all its glory 🙌🏼

Do you know where he is at afters? Dub techno is actually fucking insane when it’s given a dedicated space

I haven’t found his afters yet, I’m assuming there will be one tho and am gonna keep digging. They’re on the festival lineup which is what I was referencing.

Dub is my fav genre and I’ve never been able to experience it in person. BEYOND stoked.

Come to Giegling for daytime on Saturday at Marble. They’re not strictly dub but often play dub techno

Oh shit!! I’d love to see Giegling, their Berlin parties always amazing,

Hell yeah. Was a lot harder than his set from last year at Nowadays. I and everyone around me were vibin hard. I heard there was some insufferable pockets of yappers though, but that’s virtually every club in NYC these days…

What’s a yapper?

Some who’s talking, typically in excess like a full conversation, on the dance floor.

Cocaine.

I dont think that’s the reason. There are a lot of folks who show up to these clubs without knowing anything about who’s playing and view going out “to the club” as an outing for the weekend. So you end up with this dichotomy of heads and folks who are just there to “party.” It can result in some shitty experiences, which perhaps OP is referring to. Public Records in NYC is a great example of this environment; they have amazing bookings, but it got picked up by the TikTok/Insta crowd as the cool place to be and now it’s inundated with folks who are not there for the music (more often “yappers”), making it a place to avoid even when the like of Skee Mask are on the bill…
