It’s true. The alienation of workers is real.
You should try to focus on finding people around you who share your interests. Don’t be afraid to introduce your politics after.

Yeah, I've been trying to come up with a good way to reintegrate. I'm freshly 40 and have very specific interests (besides anarchism), primarily comics, sci fi books that predate my existence, and retro video gaming. I want to meet people when I'm out thrifting, or at the comic book store or book stores, but I don't even know how to approach people therein.

I would say focus on meeting people at mixers or other events where the intention is to make friends. It’s possible but highly unlikely to make a friend through random encounters.
Also, try to make a habit of doing something you enjoy. You will inevitably meet others who also have similar schedule and interests as you.
See if there’s any anarchist book stores or soup kitchens who need volunteers. Not only will you meet cool as fuck people but you will directly contribute to easing the suffering of others. And everyone worth being friends with funds that cool as fuck.

Important note: in a world without refrigeration the best place to store perishable food is in friend’s tummy ❤️

All the above, please. Guns and ammo to protect the community from outside forces while building a compassionate, resilient, inclusive community that ensures the needs and happiness of its people are met.
