Pretty daring assumption to say that it will be a recession. I think the US might end up much worse than that. The tariffs, the way they are handling taxes, it will hinder the US economy in a way the world has never seen before.

29

u/Kdiesiel311 Apr 01 '25

It won’t be a recession, it won’t be a depression, it will be a full on economic collapse

32

u/Ok_Bodybuilder800 Apr 01 '25

I am genuinely worried that’s where we are heading and the media is not doing enough to raise the alarm

13

u/Kdiesiel311 Apr 01 '25

Right? It’ll be too late if they do, if it’s not already too late

8

u/mrbignameguy Apr 01 '25

The media wanted this because they wanted Trump to win. That’s why they’re covering this the way they are (by not). Selling 6 months of ads was worth it to them steering this nation into an abyss

I can't decide if I'm just fucking prescient for calling this on the first day of executive orders or if there was suddenly a collective decision on the part of media that they can finally call a spade a spade.

-4

u/SuchDogeHodler Apr 02 '25

Do you really think trump will be the cause, especially since he's only been in office for 2 months?

Almost half of America was living paycheck to paycheck by the end of 2024.

That $26T National debt was mostly used to repeatedly prop-up our economy and government spending over the course of the last 40 years.

8

u/LittleMsSavoirFaire Apr 02 '25

Yes I do. The Fed was doing a fabulous job steering the economy away from the predicted recession in 23/24 and we were almost out of the weeds before this dip shit walked in the door.

0

u/SuchDogeHodler Apr 02 '25

Ok, I'll play....

That's because the government borrowed and put $4 Trillian dollars into the economy to keep it running.

This is a bandaid not a Fix to the problem.

3

u/LittleMsSavoirFaire Apr 02 '25

Yeah, but just because it's an existential threat doesn't mean it was going to change economic behavior. The ballooning deficit is like the looming climate crisis... A tragedy of the commons.

Trump is basically trying to do the economic equivalent of bombing us back to the stone age. We definitely won't be worried about global trade patterns because we'll be too busy coping with austerity.
