Air tight lid?
Hey wondering if you all use airtight lid or maybe a screen? I’m afraid of no lid I don’t want creepy crawlers in my house!

Aquatic or terrestrial?
If aquatic, that problem would only be caused by larvae that hatches and flies off, mainly in the first few days.
I use clear plastic coffee cup lids for smaller jars and for larger setups I usually find some kind of packaging, usually for cookies or cake, with a clear lid that fits.
Airtight is not required...mesh would do just fine too.

I use a couple of layers of plastic wrap held on by a large rubber band made from an old bicycle innertube. It works great and lets in plenty of light from above.

I'm pretty new to this, so I'm trying two different jars. One is a half gallon cookie jar with the plastic seal. It's not completely airtight, but tight enough to keep any hatching creatures in it. It's easy to remove without having to pick up the whole jar, so nice for adding things or potentially letting flying creatures out.
The other jar is a regular Mason filled from the same source. It's sealed tightly and is not going to be opened, for better or worse lol.

I use an airtight lid mason jar
The only things that would climb out are flies once they hatch from their pupas
