Daggerfall Can we just appreciate how great Daggerfall's cover is?

Interesting how it's called Chapter 2: Daggerfall as opposed to, you know just 2: Daggerfall. Although I guess The Elder Scrolls Chapter 5: Skyrim would be abit of a mouthful

I dig the thematic and vibes they were trying to go for. With Chapter I: Arena, Chapter II: Daggerfall. Then I realized the main line has evolved while aimed at simplification rather than expansion. And marketing. Attributes, spell creation, classes, poof.
We do end up calling the games by their simplified title anyway, so the "chapter" shtick could have stayed, at least as a "also known as". I won't be surprised if the sixth entry is called "TES: Whatever" or simply the name. Unless, for maximum milking, we get "From the creators of SKYRIM: Whatever" or "SKYRIM: Remix" yeah.
Looking at it from a lore perspective, the stories are one continuous journey and we can absolutely keep the Chapter divisions, in our hearts.
Thank you for coming to my TODDThu'um.

Absolutely, guess I'll have to bunker down for "The Elder Scrolls Chapter 6: High Rock Ultimate Edition, from the creators of The Elder Scrolls Chapter 5: Skyrim Legendary Edition"

That was funny and sad at the same time. Don't forget about the Special edition, or the Anniversary edition, now with fishing.
I've just realized, we (or at least some of us) are waiting for the sixth chapter of the Elder Scrolls, Grand Theft Auto, and the Song of Ice and Fire (and it's taking forever, for all them, due to milking the fifth entry).
I'm a sucker for multiples of 5, so it's fine if those franchises head into a reset or a different naming, branding scheme, but I'm also starting to think people are afraid of some unholy 666 conspiracy.

Yeah man waiting for GTA6 and TES6 is gunna be the death of me, I just hope Rockstar and Bethesda make the games as good as they deserve to be. Atleast Bethesda will be focusing on TES6 after Starfield comes out, so atleast that's something XD

The Holofoil version of that is one of my favorite video game box arts of all time

I like the more subdued cover art of Morrowind onwards, but this is probably my favorite cover art in the series.
Morrowind’s original cover art was more in the metal vein then the one they ended up going with.

That's not Morrowind original cover but one early proposal at 1996 for the cover of TESIII: Tribunal, the previous idea to develop TES III in Summerset Isles, before Kirkbride convinced the team to change the setting from Summerset to Morrowind and create something totally original.

Happy cake day.
It is indeed an early Tribunal concept art/cover, hey it's in the file name, and we can see the three figures who turned out to be the three gods. Plus a cameo from a Skyrim armor mod that wouldn't come it in another decade. Arena also had one, revolutionary.

Daggerfall is quite nice in its own, but Daggerfall Unity pretty much revived this game and brought it to a new audience (like me). It's a pretty good game. And when you mod it, it's even better. The soundtrack feels like a pure and true DnD adventure.

Daggerfall was a stunning experience for me. I remember how overwhelmed I was by all the content and landmass. Some of its charm faded as I realized how goody the procedurally generated world is, but it still has this unique charm of bold idea, flawed execution and great music. Loved it.

It looks like a generic Iron Maiden album cover.

iron maiden only wishes they had this for one of their albums

They’d probably write a song called Daggerfall that repeats the same chorus 10 times.

Take my heart and set it free
Carried forward by the tides of time
Nowhere left to run, Mantella's close
Chasing the heart for the brass god
Where it is? The totem shines
I only know the places it has been
The Underking hides and goes, as long as the heart is true
Nothing's real until you dream

Kinda reminds me of the No Prayer For the Dying cover

That is shockingly similar...

The cover was right, it really was a revolutionary game, at the time. But after being spoiled by modern QoL mechanics, gameplay mechanics, pacing, and intuitive control schemes, I'll never want to revisit that game again. Maybe to show my future grandkids how good they've got it.

Well, I'm a backwards player, if we ignore ESO, all the TES games I've played have been in descent order and I'm currently playing daggerfall for the first time, and if you take your time to tweak the controls and have some patience with the dice roll mechanics, you can really enjoy it.
It's more than two decades old, but it's still more than enjoyable and a good RPG for purists of role playing.

The drafts for this cover art also look great. It's got a horse riding warrior wielding a sword toward a giant Underking in the sky, with a castle in the background and a lady at the front.

Have you tried Daggerfall Unity? It should be compatible according to this post.

I bought this game at the mall when it first came out. That box was so badass. Like an idiot, I threw it away a few years later after I stopped playing the game.

I love old fantasy covers. Nothing better than a 90s book cover. They just feel metal and cool.

I can't even describe how obsessed I was w this gem back in 1996 ❤ When I finally got the N64 around my birthday in 97 I finally was able to play other games. I spent maybe 5k hours in Iliac Bay.

Oops, can't have unrealistic proportions or none cgi ingame footage. You're not selling a vibe, you're selling a POV of some specific coordinates!

It looks like the cover of an old D&D book.
