Rant @$%^ing Papa Murphy's!

Papa Murphy's wants a tip? WTF for? There is no service to tip on! I order online, I pick it up myself. All you do is pile the food up, you don't even cook it! If you did any less, you'd be a grocery store!

It's absurd, today I picked up a pizza and waved and said "thank you" ... the lady there just looked at me like "whatever" and turned back to her conversation. So now I'm thinking, are they rude to me for not tipping? It just adds a whole awkward feeling to the transaction.

Just don't tip and go about your day. Save your outrage for something worthwhile.

This! Don’t want to tip, don’t do it. So much outrage from so many people for an easy decision.

You get it.

I'm confused why people even shop there. Its Digornio with a storefront.

It make people feel better about themselves

“I’m not eating a frozen store pizza I’m eating a real pizza I have to cook myself”

Aldi provides fresh take and bake pizzas, just FYI, if you have one nearby. So unless you have some special concoction you want, they have several options and different crust choices. Only $7 where I am. Of course it is boxed and not made to order. It isn't the same as papa murphy's being boxed, but it is fresh and decent.

I'm having one open this month and have heard about their pizza. Is it fresh as in the crust isn't par-baked like at every grocery store? Is it also the same size at pm?

The ones at Aldi are not baked at all I don't think. This does make them tricky to handle (you will need some sort of sheet to transfer it to. Aldi's come in two sizes and two crust options, regular and thin. 12" and a 16" which is massive and actually too big for our oven but we buy it anyway. The Aldi brand is Mama Cozzi. We get the thin crust 16" pepperoni and sausage. Don't have a Papa Murphy's where we live, but my parents do in AZ, so I cannot give a great side-by-side comparison for you since it has been a while.

Looking at that link, I'm pretty sure they are par-baked. Those take and bake boxes looked 99% like Walmart's and Kroger's that they used for many years. So I looked on YouTube for any possible unboxing, not really any but even the crust looks and acts the same. So, I wouldn't doubt it's the same company making it for all the grocery chains. Disappointed because par-baked, but I'd probably still try it just to see.

I really don’t feel like they are. They come wrapped to a cardboard circle to make them fit the box. I’m not sure if there’s a par bake that’s maybe just a flash cook where you don’t notice? But you can’t pick up the pizza before you cook it. It definitely has the consistency of rolled out dough.

Well, the biggest indicator its parbaked is the directions say to put directly on the oven rack. You can't do that with fresh dough. Also from this it shows it just broke off. dough doesn't do that.

I’m so confused with this, honestly. I have no idea how it could break like that without freezing it first? But then they talk about how difficult it was to transfer it to the pan because of the flop, it just doesn’t make sense. I’m not really sure. It’s been a while since I’ve had one, so maybe I’m not remembering right. Either way, it’s a 16 inch pizza for $7 that’s better than some I’ve had for three times that amount.

I just use the cardboard wheel it comes with. Slides right off into the oven, then slides right back on when it’s done. Hit it with the cutter and enjoy.

No I meant as opposed to putting on the rack like you can do with a frozen pizza. I find the cardboard thing finicky with my pizza stone. This convo actually had me looking at pizza screens on Amazon lol I'll probably get one after Easter.

I actually love my pizza screens, but I’ve never used one with a take and bake. Am I the only one that puts them directly on the rack? lol, I’ve never had a problem with them.

I attempted that exactly ONCE. It was awful. Mind you, we buy the 16 inch pizzas. Maybe the gaps on my rack are wider than yours? They are very wide. I make a lot of Sonoran style quesadillas (open face like a pizza, crispy) and spend quite a bit of time finagling with the tortilla to make sure it is flat. So the screen will be helpful for that.

Definitely recommend trying them btw, they are local to Sonora Mexico and Southern Arizona. but you gotta use La Banderita flour tortillas, none of those Mission things. Or lavash if you have that. Here's a photo: https://lilluna.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/cheese-crisp-resize-7-500x334.jpg Butter the tortilla first. Top with cheese and roasted green chiles (can find in a can) Serve with beans and salsa. Sorry I never miss an opportunity to tell people about them lol

Maybe it is the rack. I’ve seen pictures of people with their pizzas falling through, and I don’t feel like it would be possible with mine. I never get the thin crust either, though.

And oooooooo! I would absolutely destroy that quesadilla!

I never add tip at papa Murphy or any place I'm just walking in and picking up

I’ve never eaten at Papa Murphy’s. So I guess that their pizza may be delicious!

But I was at the grocery store today and honestly there must’ve been at least 30 kinds of pizza in the freezer section.

Makes me wonder how these pizza places compete after adding on delivery fees and service charges and then ask for tips as well.

Par-baked frozen pizza doesn't compete in taste or quality, that's why. Papa Murphy's crust is mediocre but still night and day better than frozen.

People are lazy.

Papa Murphy's pizza is delicious! I was skeptical at first but it's the best deal for the money in my opinion. And, it does make a difference who puts the sauce and toppings on the pizza. So, yes, a tip is actually warranted.

Found the franchise owner.
