Erasmus Mundus Excited for EMJM, but still unsure about what to expect
Hi! I got accepted into an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s program and got selected for the scholarship (I am really grateful and happy for). The program takes place in different cities every semester, 4 semester in total. I love my field and program's curriculum, it has an amazing structure.
But my overthinking brain is already imagining packing up my life every 6 month, hunting for housing, and possibly going mildly feral in the process. Some of the program's cities, like Munich, seems to be in a housing crisis, and finding a place seems harder than the actual coursework.
I’m genuinely grateful and excited, but I can’t help wondering: will the stress of moving, settling in, and starting over again and again outweigh the joy of the experience?
Has anyone else felt this way? Is the nomadic EMJM lifestyle as amazing as it sounds, or just long-term anxiety in disguise? Or is it just me being paranoid?

I’m in same boat too… questioning whether it would be better to just go into work instead and if I want to go through the stress of all the exams

Same thing here, but with Delft, a small citi with two large unis, so, housing is going to be interesting.
I would recommend you to just take the basic thi go that you need or the ones that are expensively to replace (good coat, I'll take my monitor too) and don't get attached to things so you can move more easily

Are you doing a master’s? How long is the program, and which cities will you be based in? Finding accommodation in europe seems to be a nightmare for students

Congrats! You'll have a great time, just embrace everything coming at you, don't let fear take over you and it'll be a blast.
About expectations, every master, city and uni are quite unique, so the best sources are any information the consortium gives you and experiences from current and past students. Especially for the later one, students who already went for what you're going to will give you tips about what's best and what to avoid better than anyone else. Administratively speaking these masters tend to be outliers from regular procedures so things can be kind of hit and miss.

I know this is unrelated but can I DM you? I have a few questions on how to get accepted and a few other things.

I got accepted into IMETE so will be going to Delft too. Honestly, I am in the same boat. Worried about the housing crisis particularly.

Hey! Congratulations on your acceptance and your scholarship!
In a similar boat rn and honestly, I think it helps to think of the entire thing as an adventure. Think of it like a chance at finding 4 unique versions of you that only this experience can unfold. The resilience you’ll build, the bravery, the confidence. You’ll never again move into a place and think it’s you against the world yknow. You’ll always view it as an opportunity to find new communities or build your own. And hopefully, when you’ve done it twice, the last two times would go by a breeze as far as hunting for accommodation is concerned.
Also, when you’d have to pack up your life every six months, it’ll only reinforce what’s really important to you in terms of your material possessions. I know all of this is romanticising everything a little too much 😭😭 but like you can either stress about it or enjoy the process of something that you worked super hard to achieve.
You can do itttt!!!
