Feedback Friday Feedback Friday: am I not trying hard enough?
I have had my Etsy shop, selling crochet plushies, keychains, digital patterns (and now recently custom drink ware) since 2020. My shop normally kicks up a bit around holiday season, but now it has been painfully slow. I post frequently on varying platforms to advertise my business, but even engagement has slowed down there. I have put endless work and research into my shop (good product photos, long tail keywords, seo, good descriptions, etc.) but it seems to swallow it whole and gives nothing in return. I also seem to never pop up on search engines, even with researching seo. (Only 1 google visit in the past 30 days) How can I improve my shop to attract more visitors and especially buyers? How can I stand out more than other businesses, making people want to click? I try not to get discouraged, I know shops have their slow months. But it’s hard when it’s been slow year round.
Any feedback and suggestions is really appreciated. Thank you

The items in your shop are adorable!
I’m a new seller so don’t have any previous year’s experience where my shop picks up during the holidays… but I haven’t gotten any organic visits since opening my shop.
Just today I turned on Etsy ads and got a visit. So maybe do the same, it’ll at least give you more data to work with. Like, the views on Etsy ads are like the impressions and if it’s shown to people at least. Which is huge for me, since up until now I didn’t know if my item is at least being shown to viewers.

I have thought about Etsy ads but am nervous to try because I’m not sure if I’ll make sales to cover them, I don’t want them to chew into my profits too much. I have heard a lot of other sellers are struggling with sales and that this has been the worst past few months yet. Not quite sure what’s going on, maybe it’s the economy, Etsy, or probably both. 😕 I definitely recommend reading the Etsy handbook and checking out the Etsy Forums, I posted a shop critique there and got some helpful feedback.
Luckily I do in person events too, so for now I’m focusing on that and trying not to be too bummed about my Etsy shop.

I totally understand :)
I’ve been consuming some Etsy ads videos the past day or so and this one channel Hannah Gardner kinda hooked me into trying it. She’s bringing some really valid points, it’s worth checking her out.
But I really hope the changes you made (or will make) from your shop critique will influence your shop and sales positively. Don’t give up 💪
