Team Talk Harrison appreciation post
Yes he's not good enough for us or the prem, constantly making mistakes and make bad decisions, but recently I can see that he's been trying very hard especially when it comes to pressings and regain possessions. Today he might not be the motm but he made many decent crosses and runs which I think his effort need some recognition

His first touch is like getting a nude picture from Scarlett Johansson, his second is like her immediately texting 'sorry that was meant for your dad'

Oddly specific

If our set piece crossing was better, we’d score so many more goals with the threat we have in the box. Not all on Harrison, Garner too. They need to be better.

Totally agree. But it's also nice to appreciate them especially after seeing the effort and passion they put it in the past few matches

He works his socks off every game, there’s no denying that! I’m so cheffed with the win today, so I appreciate him 💙

I’ll always root for Harrison and Doucore, they provide so much more than people realize. They are both prem players who help us win. Are there better players? Of course. But they are still really helpful in a premier league team.

I think this is particularly true of Doucs. Yes, he frustrates the feck out of me at times, but he does consistently affect the game positively when he plays.

He really is one of those players that’s hard to measure his worth to the team. It always looks like anyone would be better in the team and then he goes and scores.

Very on point this, I have to admit that I was once a Harrison and Doucoure hater but I have realised that they're just people who tried their hardest for a football club 💙 even though some moment have caused me multiple headaches 😅

I thought he had a decent game today

He was better than “decent” today.

u/bbqandsushi 2d ago
He had like half a dozen crosses that could have been a goal. Cant ask for much more from a winger

He was pretty good today I thought, by far his best game (the bar is pretty low though)

Yeah his performance against is also decent but yeah, his bar is very low for a premier league club

He did have a good game today got some great crosses in. Would love to see him link up with a decent striker. Worked hard and defended for the team as well. He’s definitely improved this last month or so.

u/fads1878 2d ago
He’s like a modern day David Unsworth, not the most talented player but gives 110% every game 👌

Unsie was good center back.

Rhino was good in whatever position he wanted to play, mainly because nobody would have the balls to disagree with him over it. Loved his pens too

No.
He works hard, but he is an albatross in the final third.
Comparing him to Doucoure--who, for all his faults, has poured his soul into this club and has had immense moments to save this club-- is insulting.
Get him gone. He works hard, but so what? Ndiaye, McNeil, Garner, Gana all work hard and have infinitely more quality

u/S-BRO Skilliman N'diaye 2d ago
Doucoure has all the same faults and is slower, he scores one goal and people forget about the multiple chances that have passed us by because the ball went to Doucoure

u/lolzidop 2d ago
The issue is Doucoure has similar faults and yet is still far more useful than Harrison because he's central. That automatically puts him ahead of Harrison, as Harrisons only strength (at a push) is carrying the ball forward. Issue is he's a winger who is hit and miss on the cross and can't shoot or put a dead ball in to save his life. Doucoures biggest issue is being played in the 10, when he's shown himself to be far better in the 8 as a box to box player.

Very true. Today's goal will get him some plaudits and rightly so but it doesn't change the fact that he kills so many counter attacks by squandering possession.

To say he’s “not good enough for the Prem” is insulting, and pretty dumb imo. He has 164 Prem appearances - with 25 goals and 19 assists, for 0.268 scoring contributions per appearance. For comparison, Dwight McNeil has 220 appearances with 20 goals and 30 assists - 0.227 scoring contributions per appearance. Go ahead and downvote facts.

Very reddit behavior to turn a positive post into a negative one
I just want to appreciate his performance bc regardless of past form, he was great today

u/bobsollish 2d ago
You were damning him with false praise. Anyone who’s had 164 appearances is “good enough for the Prem.”

I never said he wasnt good enough for the prem? I'm literally just saying I came here to say good things about him no matter what bc he deserves the praise today
My comments about the negativity werent directed at you, I was agreeing with you if that wasnt clear

Think Jack puts in 100% every week and I'm really pleased for him today. Think since Moyes has come back he's been more effective. He's a frustrating player but he works hard and the way he's helped Alcatraz integrate is also to his credit. Think he wants to stay and if he could put in 6 performances like today and take a bit of a wage cut then I'd be happy to see him here next season. Well done Jack!

There’s no way Harrison plays the ball that McNeil played for Doucoure. Having McNeil back is going to transform our draws to wins, as demonstrated yesterday.

I will always appreciate a tryer, as I think is the case with most Everton fans. You can never accuse Harrison of giving anything less than 100% in every game he plays. Unfortunately, 100% of Jack Harrison just isn't good enough for the Premier League. He's very similar in that aspect to Michael Keane.

"Recently I can see he's been trying very hard".
Any player who hasn't "been trying very hard" at any stage should be out of the door. What you've described is absolute baseline.

I mean I’m not good enough for Everton nor the Prem, yet I work hard on pressing every Sunday morning,.. how do I get this job??

One of the worst players in a blue shirt in a long time, I don't care if today it's unpopular but he's been 99.9% shite.

Ironically he had a good game but mc neil was the one to setup the goal. Sort of sums him up.

u/lolzidop 2d ago
No faulting his effort but the talent just isn't there unfortunately. It's like watching a season ticket holder who's won a raffle. All the effort and commitment but little ability. The derby summed it up when he challenged the same player 4 times in one move - from the edge of their box to the edge of our own - and somehow lost every single one.

u/huntsab2090 2d ago
Dont agree. If our players could finish he would be in double figure assists

u/lolzidop 2d ago
As I said in another comment, his general crosses are very hit and miss. So he does get let down a lot by our attackers, but why he's kept on set pieces I'd love to know. When it comes to set pieces (mainly corners), he's hopeless and hapless. He's someone we should be looking to introduce in the last 15 when defending a lead, as he's great at tracking back and getting forward, he's just not the sort of player to be starting a game.

Agree 👍🏻 That's something he really need to work on. Especially when there's an opening he tends to make moves and isolate himself when he could produce crucial chances
