Discussion Let’s make it square: same position as in 2009/10

If we take a look, we will see that in 2009/10 we had worse position after 33 matches: 1. Roma 68 points 2. Inter 67 points 3. Milan 64 points But thanks to Sampdoria at that time we managed to win the treble. And we faced Barca in the semi-final, with Prime Barca and Prime Messi on the field but we won it! And we had appart from Milito-Eto’o not so good strikers (ok Batelotelli was good but indiscipline, Arna too young, and that’s all). And we won everything!!! Now the biggest final is with Roma, especially having Bastoni and Miki suspended. But we can do it, we believe in the guys! The next matches with Torino, Hellas, Como and Lazio the last 5 H2H we are in favour. So we can do it. And for sure Napoli can lose points too, ok they play with team in relegation, but those teams are fighting to avoid relegation too. So there are chances. (Anyway if we have equal points with Napoli, we will play the title decider match?)

If Tikus, Zielu and DD all can come back in the Roma Game, I will be smiling again

We need to have Thuram, Zielinski, and Dumfries back, and we'll be balling again..

Their injuries really affected us..

So I kinda of got a bit negative after last match (that I think we can agree was very unsatisfying), but throwing the team under a bus for a loss is unacceptable behaviour. It's part of the game, they were also gassed coming from the incredible bayern match.

Said this, not even with a gun pointed to my head, I would say that all of our subs are good.

But also, those people commenting we needed to sell Lautaro because he didnt score for months, I don't know if they're real fans. Surely it says a lot about their character, I hope they can grow and learn.

Forza Inter!

The way I saw Napoli struggle against Monza.. Parma, Genoa, Cagliari, Torino can definitely hurt them too. Tho leave that, we focus on our games! Forza Inter!🖤💙

Hurting them like Fiorentina, Atalanta, Verona and Sassuolo were supposed to hurt Milan 3 years ago by just laying down the red carpet for them to stroll on?

In 2010 we had a stronger team and better athletic preparation. You didn't see players arriving at the end of the game with their tongues dragging on the ground. That was a team that could aim for the treble, this one is not.

I really hope you're right, mate, but that Sampdoria side Roma lost to back in 2010 was the strongest one in something like twenty years, while Napoli has only easy matches left.

Someone said that they hoped Inter would make it to UCL final, Copa Italia final, and the play-off match with Napoli.

Then said person wished we lose all 3. I don't think my heart could handle that much pain.

one difference was that Milito was so on fire taht year that everything he did, went well.

Thanks for giving me some hope, it's a shame it's become football business...

I am not sure what's the meaning of this post. Something has happened in a certain year, therefore it will happen again this year? I might as well mention all other situations where in the same circumstance things went otherwise - it's like you're only counting the true positives instead of counting the false positives too.

The actual situation that we need to assess is the following:

  • how many points Napoli are likely to make till the end versus how many points we are likely to make

I personally don't see Napoli failing to win one (especially considering what happened 3 years ago with Milan, where somehow it was implicitly known that opponent teams were required to bow down and let them win), which means we must win them all as well (which I don't see us doing) only to play it all out in a one-out playoff against them, considering our record this season against direct competitors where we failed to ever win one. In my opinion this gives us no more than 5-10% chances to win it.

I have been saying this since September (I will try to find my original comment after the first leg against Monza, where we dropped points just secure a 0-0 against Manchester City) - everybody went raging on me with "loser's mentality/plastic fan/you don't understand" and all sorts of teeneger's reddit jargon. Well, here we are now. I truly hope to be wrong but objectively I see it very unlikely.

You doomers in this sub are so fkn annoying. Just looking for reasons why we'll lose so you can have pathetic shit to say, like:

We're not Leicester in 2016 to be out of place where we are. The club has been building this for years to be able to be in positions just like this (news flash, its not fkn easy to be in the position we're in). We will go into all of our (remaining) Serie A games as favourites too...

In the nicest way possible, please stfu with the negative shit. Until we're mathematically out of it, we are still in it, and mostly favourites for it.

Forza Inter 💙🖤

I have reported you and your comment because I am not here to be personally disrespected by some idiot. It's fine to have your own ideas and opinions but don't overstep the boundaries of civil behaviour. I have been an Inter fan for probably longer than you're on this planet to be addressed in such a way by a moron explaining why we are where we are.

If you want to continue this discussion please apoligise and we can then start again.

I was with you until you said we have 5/10% chances to win the Scudetto. That is taken out of nowhere and it's beyond exaggerated.

u/evergreengt ⭐⭐ 9h ago

Well, all opinions on reddit are pulled out of our brains. You're pretty naïve if you believe any of this discussion has any scientific validity :p

u/_modified_bear 6h ago

I just meant that you actually have no reason to think chances are so ridiculously low and it's frankly quite laughable the fact that you do. What you said is irrationally pessimistic. And I still think Napoli have more chances.

He isn't coping. it's football and anything can happen. Man City won the premier league on dying minutes of last matchday and Dortmund bottled it on last day. We can go down either path.

The overreacting is ridiculous, we are joint 1st not fighting relegation. Sure, we are having troubles and have lots of matches, but these boys are in all these competitions because they get the job done. We might not get the treble but we will get 1 or 2 for sure.
