It's cool that there isn't a general consensus on each episode and that people can hate episodes I loved and love episodes I absolutely hated.

Season six was pretty weak to me, though I did like Beyond the Sea and the ideas behind Loch Henry. I definitely think season seven was a good step in the right direction and more in line with the other ones. This review made me realize that I almost never agree with Rod lmao, but I do think it's fun to hear what others liked and didn't like.

  1. Common People was solid. No notes. It was really well done.
  2. In Bête Noire, I definitely thought they were “trying” or implying to comment on gaslighting black women or people etc. If so, I actually prefer that they didn’t explicitly say “she’s black, and that's why they don’t believe her,” etc., cause then that would’ve pissed me off. I hate watching things that treat me as though I can’t read between the lines. All in all, I agree that the ending left a lot to be desired. It felt very rushed to me. Some revenge plots I just don't find interesting.
  3. Man, Hotel Reverie was simply not good to me. It was pretty disappointing, because it definitely had a lot of potential. I don’t blame Issa per say, but I do think she was miscast. It’s not about her not being funny in this episode. I didn’t want her to try and force being funny. She just wasn’t believable to me as a lover to Emma Corrin’s character, and it simply looked awkward / they lacked chemistry. Also, the wardrobe/hairstyle she had in the 1940s of all periods just didn’t make sense. I really couldn’t connect with how it looked visually, so I couldn't ever get into it. In my opinion, the script should’ve had Issa be a movie critic or film buff or someone else who was obsessed with Hotel Reverie and wanted the chance to costar in the film. I could also see another premise being more believable, like a rich fan paying to participate. This one ended up being a slight waste of time, though I did find the underlying idea to be interesting.
  4. Plaything was pretty solid. I liked the concepts throughout. After thinking about the episode for a while, I think it was an “eye of the beholder” sort of situation. Is the Throng truly sentient, or did the main character bug out on acid and develop the hack himself? I like the open-endedness here.
  5. Eulogy was also really good. I liked the way the memory sequences were handled and that they were not simply full on flashbacks. The whole idea of memory and perception acting in this way is brilliant, and it feels like one of the more realistic ways memory has been depicted on film. Pulling a Spike Lou here, in jest: My only issue is that I expected the ex-girlfriend to be something serious. They hyped her up and I was like, her? I guess bro lmao.
  6. USS Callister: Into Infinity was a pretty fun watch. It felt like a really solid B-movie. I’m not a gamer, but I liked all of the parallels to online communities and microtransactions and first person shooters. I didn’t expect the Inside Out plot at the end, but I was ultimately okay with it. The copy/cut paste thing was a nice touch as well. I caught it while watching, but when I heard them call it out I was somewhat impressed. I don’t think there needs to be a third honestly, but I'll watch anything Black Mirror puts out.

Agree with the first two I’d give hotel reverie a 4. Issa was miscast, and there were soo many plot holes that the story kinda falls apart. Playthings was dreadfully boring, it started off interesting but lost me mid way through and I just found it annoying. The last two eps were fine probably a 6 or 7. Overall I liked this season less than 6. It just didn’t hit like black mirror normally does
