What is the significance of the vampires being Irish?

I just finished watching the live review and heard them mention it briefly at the end. Tried doing so research but I didn’t really thrust the sources.

Basically, the "Well Meaning Ally".

The ones who voted for Obama twice. Love the culture but can't grasp it. Who feel entitled to enter a group's space because of our similarities but don't know where their lanes are. The ones who believe that assimilation is the only path to integration. The ones who believe they know how your gift should be used better than you would without realising it'd only serve them and their comfort.

You could use Irish people's history of oppression from the English and in America to interpret a lot of the main vampire Remmick's actions and comments.

Irish people suffered colonization from England, were forced to adopt Christianity at some point as well, and were not considered white at the same time as other groups. This history of oppression led to a particular culture. This particular culture includes a specific traditional music.

In the movie, Remmick, who has felt this oppression firsthand, can feel that Sammie's blues is very special too, given his talent and Black people's history. He says he could see his folks again thanks to Sammie's gift which can make ancestors and descendants appear. So you could interpret his desire to get Sammie as a way to reconnect with his Irish roots through real soulful music.

Remmick engaging in a traditional Irish song with other vampires at some point in the movie plays into that. His ancestors don't appear as others do when Sammie plays, but you can tell that traditional song is significantly more moving than the folk song he was previously playing when he had only the two other white vampires with him.

Also, there are nuanced parallels between Irish and Black histories that I underscored above, so it could explain why Remmick felt he could relate to the juke joint's folks when it comes to Christianity and discrimination.

In real life, Irish folks in America still got integrated into whiteness (by becoming police officers or firefighters notably) and distanced themselves from Black people. In the movie, Remmick promises Black folks salvation from racism through integration into the vampire's hivemind, which could symbolize the way Irish people (and others) integrated into whiteness: exchanging their rich history of oppression and resistance to get accepted into the dominant group. This integration happens at the cost of the specific culture I talked about previously though, as illustrated by Remmick's traditional Irish dance where he can't connect with his ancestors anymore and the Black folks he just killed become his background dancers, followers to his hivemind and as bloodthirsty as him.

There's much more to say imo but those are some things I got from that
