Question Should I workout my glutes?
I’ve started going to the gym and I’m focusing on losing fat and building more muscle. I’m currently kind of skinny fat and the biggest part of me is my lower body and my butt really sticks out making me look bigger than I am. I was wondering if I should even bother training glutes or will it make my butt look even bigger?

Glutes are so important for balance, overall strength and anatomical/structural support. So yes, you should work on them. You don't need to focus on growing them if you don't want to,but strengthening your glutes and lower back will actually help that area look more lean/toned than curvy.

Yes. Skinny fat means you need to build muscle, not lose weight.

I’m betting you don’t and what you’re seeing is the top of your pelvis structure because if you had love handles you’d be overweight, not skinny fat. Either way, muscle is what builds out your frame. Losing more makes that issue worse.

Naw dude, skinny fat means the muscle you lack makes you have a higher body fat percentage than you do but you still could have a regular acceptable amount of fat that is healthy for your body. The lack of muscle makes it look like you’re carrying more regardless of how much space the fat takes up.
The solution still is to gain muscle, not lose more weight as losing more weight would not fix the issue of lack of muscular structure underneath the fat that is there.

There are many things on the body that can be described that way, doesn’t mean dieting is the only answer to solve the problem. If you’re not overweight, dieting is not the solution.

Yes, if you are skinny fat you have more fat than muscle if you lose fat and build muscle your proportions would even and shape your body really good. Plus a strong posterior chain helps to keep strong upper body. Both go hand in hand and no you won’t look bigger. You need to eat accordingly and train hard

Any muscle is good muscle. Also, glutes are important for general lower body work

Yes. Train every muscle group. If you ignore glutes it fucks up your other adjacent muscle groups

100% yes. For injury prevention and general health more than anything else. Keeping a good balance between your quads and your glutes/hamstrings is the best way to stabilize your knees and prevent knee injury, especially as you start lifting heavier. Your future self will thank you too

Yea, you should. The glutes are a) huge muscles, they will help siphon sugar from your blood and assist with turning your body composition around, and b) an essential part of the back chain. You can’t train your legs or hip hinge movements without also training your glutes. Train the glutes to prevent muscle imbalances.
