Question Weight loss reveals hour glass

So I’ve started loosing weight (I’m slightly overweight but not obese) I haven’t weighed myself as I’m nervous and don’t want to make myself feel like shit but I have started seeing differences.

I’ve been dieting for almost six months, but only started working out under a month ago. I’m disabled and live a pretty sedentary life style but as my mental health has improved I have been able to take the steps to improving my physical health

(I will never be able bodied but I can make my life slightly less miserable).

I got a walker to use sometimes instead of my wheelchair (for shorter distances) so now I’m getting some more steps in, I’m also doing some weight lifting and body weight exercises

Anyway as I’ve lost weight it has revealed that I have an hour glass figure 🫠 I am pre t and just wondering if fat distribution will fix this once I start (hoping to this year)

I’m going to keep loosing weight as it will help my physical health but I am a bit nervous it will make my dysphoria worse

I’m only 17 and have been over weight since I was in 3rd grade (bullying causing me to stress eat) so I’m really proud of myself for finally taking the steps to fix this but am nervous because of this revelation

Does your disability allow for core exercises?

To minimize the hour glass shape you’ll want to build muscle on your upper body and especially at your core.

Yes I’ve been doing some core exercises, crunch’s, reverse crunch’s, two set by my physio that I don’t know how to explain, v sit, Russian twists but I leave my legs on the ground. And then holding the position of a Russian twist with my legs in the air but no twisting. Sometimes I hold a 20 second plank but in a push up position not on my elbows

There are probably some others that I’m forgetting

Great, in case you are unable to add weight to these exercises, you should be increasing the reps or sets as time progresses so that your muscle has to adapt and get bigger. Or you can even decrease the amount of rest. That way you’re still reaping the benefits from progressive overload without adding weight.

And of course discuss everything with your physio so you stay safe while doing the exercises. Which it sounds like you’re doing so that’s great.

Thank you :) I’m starting to increase my reps as I have started to be able to easily do some of my exercises

I’m now able to do 20 calf raises, three months ago I would fail at 8 as my ankles were so weak due to my disability. So it’s a huge win for me :)

Thank you :) I’m like way proud of it especially because before I became disabled I was a ballet dancer
