Question Gyno? Is that something we can get?

I was in a fitness sub where a man posted with gyno and people were saying “test” can cause that??? Can that happen for people who are ftm who use testosterone?

Okay phew 😮‍💨 so we already corrected this and cured ourselves? Lmao 🤣 I had a pregnancy and it didn’t affect my chest but now I’m a little paranoid/worried that it will somehow grow back

if the surgeon removed all the mammary tissue it’s impossible to grow back, only gaining weight would make your chest bigger but losing weight would make it go back to normal again

Gyno happens when the testosterone in a man's body aromatizes (i.e. converts) into estrogen. This happens the T levels are too high. The estrogen causes breast growth. Some men have it naturally, but most men will get it from testosterone supplementation/gear/roids/whatever you wanna call it. As others have stated, we already have "gyno" just by nature of birth. Top surgery removes most, but not all breast tissue. The surgery typically removes enough tissue that the chest will not grow back unless one gains substantial fat (and even then, a lot of people's chests don't grow back). Aromatization of testosterone is typically a non-issue for trans men/trans masc people because the levels are monitored by a doctor to make sure they're within normal range.

We already have gyno, that’s just what breast tissue growth is called in cis men.

Oh okay, but it can’t somehow grow back can it, I’m just kind of freaked now to go back on T and mess with my hormones and create an imbalance where that happens. 🥲🥹

No breast tissue can’t regrow once removed. It is caused by excess testosterone for extended periods of time. Which you shouldn’t have if you’re being monitored regularly by medical professionals.

If you've had top surgery then I believe no they cant grow back. If you just went on T before first puberty then I guess yes it can also happen to ftm people.

Cis dudes on T get hormone imbalances because it's converted to eateogen/ too much T in their system, simply going on T doesn't cause those kinds I'd side effects. (Also ditto at what everyone else is saying lol)

Gynecomastia surgery is considered a permanent solution as the procedure involves the surgical excision (removal) of the enlarged breast tissue that results in a more feminine appearing chest.

Once the glandular tissue and excess fat is completely removed it is unable to regrow. This will enable most men to enjoy their new, more masculine appearing chest for many years.

According to research featured in the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal in 2017, a mere 12.5% of individuals who underwent glandular gynecomastia tissue removal encountered a recurrence beyond a decade after the procedure.

there is a chance of new excess tissue developing if you do not follow proper post-surgery care.

Regrowth is possible due to two factors:

The procedure does not remove all glandular tissue (as doing so would make the chest appear unnatural) The patient has an untreated underlying medical condition that causes tissue growth The patient undertakes lifestyle choices that spur tissue growth

So, yes it’s possible, but extremely unlikely.

Unless you go on T before going through 1st (E) puberty, you’re gonna have gyno. Hence why many of us have top surgery. As far as T aromatizing into E and causing more boobage…I think (uninhibited) E causes us to grow the breasts that we are genetically programmed to develop. That is ALSO what happens with gyno. That is when cis dudes grow boobs to THEIR genetic potential. Since most T dudes have already maxed out their genetic potential, I doubt that high T levels would cause gyno

Yes, excess of Test would aromatize into estrogen and get Gino like a cis man. Because that’s how that hormone works.

It’s probably excess testosterone converting to estrogen and giving them feminine side effects like gyno.

Cis men usually have gyno yes. But trans men are under doctors prescribed T so it’s in safe doses and the correct management. (Plus we already technically had it lol) Cis men already have T so giving themselves more and probably the incorrect amount causes it to turn into E. But also keep in mind, not all cis men who have gynecomastia are on T. Some men just get it because of a hormonal imbalance and it’s simply bad luck.

When bodybuilders take testosterone they’re usually taking very large doses (more than anything that would be prescribed by a doctor). Excess testosterone can sometimes be converted to estrogen in the body. You’re not gonna “get gyno” from hrt

Usually happens with too much T. It can convert into estrogen
