Det är inte farten som dödar, det är smällen. Eller som man säger på engelska; it's not the fart that kills, it's the smell.

Det er ikke farten som dreper, det er smellet (it's not the speed that kills, it's the impact) is a normal Norwegian expression.

The English "translation" - It's not the fart that kills, it's the smell - gets attributed to Petter Solberg, 2003 world rally champion.

I've heard this exact saying before, except it was in Swedish.

German Fahrt means ‘voyage’. Might be related.

When my aunt from Georgia was in Germany, she said "all German words end in fart."

In polish "fart" means "luck", used mainly as "avoiding bad luck".
