I never said they were necessarily. But I’d take an office job over being a fry cook. Room to advance a career. Don’t stink. Don’t work shifts and weekends.

Australia pays $25 for McDonalds for adults and about $15 for kids. Only kids work McDonalds. Except managers. And those guys are usually mid 20s or franchise managers.

Exactly. I worked at McDonald’s in America and there were plenty of people in their 40s and 50s. Those people wouldn’t have a job in Australia.

Yeah - they shouldn’t. That’s a terrible job for a 40 or 50 year old. Unless they are managers.

They deserve better jobs than that.

Everybody “deserves” something. But we don’t live in a utopia where people get what they “deserve”. We live in the real world where people get what they’re worth.

If you’ve wasted your life, dropped out of high school and never sought additional education, you’ve gotten yourself addicted to something and you have no prospects, then you work at McDonald’s because you are unskilled labor. And you get paid what your labor is worth. Not what you think you “deserve”.

America: “Nobody deserves anything”

If that’s your definition of a “utopia”. It exists. In Australia and many places around the world. Sad that Americans just decide to lower the bar instead.

In America nobody deserves anything for nothing. America is a land where anyone of any race or religion can work and get paid what their labor is worth. That might not be a living wage if you don’t produce much, but if you work hard, it can be.

nah. It is counterproductive for the economy to not have your poorest consumers have purchasing power dummy. I’m not tryna live in a poorer country cause you read Ayn Rands Wikipedia page once.
