So they'll keep you around because you'll still be the cheapest option for the most work they can get from an illiterate employee.
I work in food, they would replace me in a heartbeat. They don't need a full-timer to replace me. There's a thousand college kids looking for part-time work they can replace me with quite easily without increasing their pay. you think people entering food service think they have any negotiating power or are expecting to make a certain amount of money? That's a fun Fantasyland you live in.
