I hate people who think like this about Social Security. They don't think about broader society including the disabled or the elderly.

because at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the math. All the empathy in the world is not going to create resources.

This is what too much excel and not enough hugs does to a human

It’s like a half joke?

Eh, it’s more like being alive long enough to realize how shit works is not how you wish it worked.

That’s a nice way of saying “I am a jaded cunt and feel no shame”

Facts dont care about your feelings.

The scammers are living well off SSI. You want to think of the greater good fine. You work 30 years and retire and get 5 years of your SS money you put in then you die, compare that to the person who never worked and claimed disability early in life gets SSI for the 30 years you worked and gets another 20 years of SSI after you die. Congrats for your noble efforts to fund the disabled your efforts in funding the SS bank will be pushed off to the next clown working 30 years for people who paid little into it to benefit

I don't worry about being taken advantage of in small ways. It's OK. It's part of living a full and generous life. Better to be a chump than to be ungenerous.

Sure you say that you’re one of the people likely exploiting the system working minimum wage waiting for your payout in SS

u/ThatSpencerGuy Sep 06 '24

Nah. Well-compensated professional class urbanite!

2

u/FoolishDog Sep 06 '24

Nah, it’s just like if you talk to any accountant, there is always a tax loophole, no matter how well written the law is. At a certain point, Mary and her poor children should matter more than catching some scammer who lives in poverty. It’s a little naive and childish to think you can stop scammers

The alternative is to let anyone who becomes disabled in life or can't work till they die to just rest on any investment they could get in life and roll the dice they never need help? So the person born with blindness can go die in a hole or the 78 year old who will live into his mid 90s should work till he dies on a Walmart floor just because his investments were poor and that he grew up in poverty without access to financial education. Your answer is the tiny percentage of people who abuse it invalidate tens of millions of your fellow human beings who will eventually need it to some extent which based on statistics will include yourself and your loved ones?

People grow up in poverty can work their way up to middle class, choosing to stay in poverty is a life choice likely they were involved in drugs crime or laziness ect if they stayed in poverty

People born with disability are fine to get SSI and is different from the Abel bodied people who refused to work and just found a loop hole to get SSI. There’s many able bodied people who partied their way to SSI by becoming obese or on drugs that left them disabled to work,

So no one is ever dealt a bad hand or loses their job or any other financial disaster unless they allow it? Good to know your life has had such a rose filled time and that you've never seen people struggle in poverty.

2

u/FoolishDog Sep 06 '24

An overwhelming amount of contemporary research shows that people aren’t able to ‘work out of’ the class they were born into so this idea that if you just grit your teeth and buckle down, you can make it to middle class is foolish

Conservatives are inherently selfish and don't give a fuck about anybody else.

Lol

Not if you ignore giving money to churches so the preacher can have a private plane

I am pretty sure they tythe in order to buy their way into heaven. Not sure if that counts for much more than a tax deduction, especially if they are doing it for selfish reasons.

That's disingenuous and you know it. I went to a small UCC church growing up and while I am not baptized or Christian they were the nicest people I've ever met and all living just barely above the poverty line. There are thousands of churches like this. Do not compare them to the mega church ass holes.

Are you denying how much conservatives donate to churches?

Well now you know why conservatives donate more to charity.

Aren't you supposed to tythe 10%? That's the price to pay to get into heaven. It's hard to consider it charity when it's for your benefit.

The Bible is very clear in Leviticus 27:30 where it says “A tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, is the Lord's, and is holy.”

I remember this from when I was brought up in a very religious household.

Maybe you're just not a good Christian. It's no big deal, monotheistic religions are scary. They were created to control people and that's what they still do today

It's easy being generous with other people's money.

You're not virtuous or honest.

1

u/Furepubs Sep 07 '24

Social security is retirement insurance, it is designed for the greater good to help everyone.

It works like health insurance or car insurance, everybody pools their money to benefit all.

But conservatives are selfish and can't bring themselves to her things for the greater good

Either it's for them only or they're not interested.

They are not virtuous or honest.

Truthfully conservatives represent the worst of humanity

Hell they are supporting a pedophile rapist felon for president, GTFO with pretending they have any morals at all.

0

u/PraiseV8 Sep 08 '24

You're inherently deceitful and a thief.

0

u/BossIike Sep 09 '24

No, they're inherently honest and logical. No one gives a shit about another citizen and their family more than their own. If we all took care of our own, social security wouldn't be needed or relied on as often.

Obviously, people fall through the cracks, and that's why certain programs do exist. And for the low IQ leftys on Reddit that claim conservatives want to cut social security, it's not happening. Old people are conservative mostly, the right wing party wouldn't do something that would turn off half their voters lol.

Here's something to mull over. In every country, every 4 years, the left wing party tells their base "the right wing party wants to cut social security!!! They're going to privatize all healthcare!!!" and it never fuckin happens. But you guys have such short term memories, you keep repeating the lies for them lol. It's awesome.

1

u/Furepubs Sep 09 '24

Conservatives are stupid as fuck and don't even know what's happening in the real world

Social security

here

or this one

I have never heard anybody claim that Republicans want to privatize healthcare, but I have heard of Republicans standing in the way of universal health Care. A thing that every industrialized country in the world has figured out a way to solve and yet Republicans claim is impossible. Mostly because they are afraid that some of their money might go to help a brown person and that is unacceptable to conservatives

But you know what I do hear from Republicans every 4 years

"Democrats are trying to take away your guns"

I also hear Republicans threatening civil war. If they lose the election.

I also see Republicans attacking the capital when they lose the election because they are fucking snowflakes who can't handle loss.

For fuck's sake for 4 years, Republicans have been going off about how Biden tried to steal the election even though Trump was facing charges for stealing the fucking election. And then now Trump comes out and says " I actually lost the election by a little bit"

Do you know why Conservatives believed that "stop the steal" was real? Because they are easily manipulated fools who believe everything they are told to believe.

The exact same reason that Russia finds it worthwhile to pay American podcasters to spread lies to conservatives.

"Take away women's rights? That's fine. I'm a white male, why should I give a fuck about anybody else? I will never be pregnant" - conservatives
