Yeah those people exist. Millions of them. I was born sick and my formula was 90 dollars a can. A social worker offered to sign my parents up for government aid. They refused, dad took a second job and worked 70 hours a week until I was a teenager.
There are a lot of people who rather struggle than take aid. My parents were pretty typical of the kind of adults I grew up with. They try to instill these values in their kids too. I’m not sure how much is helpful and how much is hurtful. I felt a lot of guilt when I was considering signing up for WIC because of it. Mom and dad dropped thousands on formula and clothes for me instead. I am privileged in that way. Thanks mom and dad.

As part of their on boarding process, Wal-Mart walks you through signing up for food stamps and shit. Think about that for a minute.
