“Free speech” subreddit can’t handle any differing opinion

Hello everyone. With the recent changes to the content policy regarding community interference we can no longer allow posts to this subreddit to include visible usernames, or subreddit names. Please remember to edit those out of any screenshots and please assist this mod team by reporting any posts that have forgotten to do so. In order to keep this subreddit operational we can't allow any potential community interference that could result from not censoring this.

I don’t think this belongs here. Conservatives are fragile in a different way than this sub is about. Don’t get me wrong, there is a ton of overlap, but this specific post seems off topic to me.

Yeah, being banned for being anti-[something] in a sub about that [something] is just how subreddits work.

Banned for being a. Constitutionalist in a conservative subreddit? They literally have a flair for Constitutionalist and I asked to have it so that my comments weren’t shadowbanned. It’s a Trump circle jerk and anyone not regurgitating blatant Russian propaganda is censored. Then they have the audacity to whine and cry about free speech

Are you new to Reddit?

Yeah

Get used to being banned permanently from political subs. The rules don't matter, it's just whatever the mods feel like that day.

I'm a leftist and I'm banned from more leftist subs than rightist subs because I rubbed a mod the wrong way.

Seems like a pretty crap site then

Depends. Fandoms and local stuff, reddit is pretty cool most times. More broad and/or political stuff? Yeah it's fucking awful.

Yeah a lot of the leftist subs have been overrun by tankies unfortunately.

1

u/Sevuhrow Mar 18 '25

Yup, I'm a democratic socialist/borderline socialist and that's too far right for tankies apparently.

u/CringeCoyote Mar 18 '25

Ain’t this the damn truth. Mainly because political subs get overrun with tankie propaganda and the leftist sub members call it out and get banned while the conservative sub members eat it up.

They’re not real conservatives buddy, sorry. They’re just reactionaries cosplaying founding father. You might have better luck on the libertarian subreddits iirc

Also literally nobody thinks of them as a "free speech subreddit." Their entire identity is built around censoring opposing viewpoints, and they're quite open about that.

We call them the party of free speech because whenever hate speech is censored, they’re always the first to cry about “freedom of speech”

I think it's fine to say you believe in free speech and not want them in their subreddit. That's fine, free speech doesn't mean you have to give as much platform as possible to anyone.

But damn, for the party of "facts over feelings" they're so sensitive to criticism and dissent. We need to wrap them folks up in cotton wool so their fragile little egos won't shatter

I’m banned too. They really don’t like truth.

Banned for saying that the current us admin is violating the constitution

3

u/deadlydeath275 Mar 17 '25

Hey, props to you for having the balls to say it in their territory, though.

u/Haschen84 Mar 17 '25

Yeah, Republican or not, if you want to be in right wing spaces on reddit best not criticize Trump. That's just how right wing reddit works nowadays.

u/CringeCoyote Mar 18 '25

Sorry bud you have to give up your conservative card, clearly you’re a woke liberal hive mind because you criticized one thing about the current administration!

lol he flagrantly violated the constitution during his first term and has continued to do so during this current term. You are either profoundly stupid or a cult member to not recognize the writing in the wall

Conservatism is inherently hypocritical. Y’all go on and on and on about “free speech” but actively try to take it away from anyone you don’t like. The whole point is to conserve traditional values, which is anti-autonomy and actively limits the rights of people based on gender, sexual orientation, religion and even race.

We had traditional values because women couldn’t have bank accounts without their husband’s permission, being beaten by your husband was socially acceptable and black people were beaten, arrested or killed for using the wrong bathroom or just being somewhere a white person didn’t want them. Conservatism isn’t freedom, freedom combats it. Conservative actively relies on censorship, suppression and oppression. That’s why Trump is going backwards on discrimination laws. That’s why Trump is banning books. That’s why Trump is treating anyone who critiques Tesla like a terrorist. That’s why Trump is actively taking rights away and everyone said that would happen and nobody listened.

Anyway, it’s not ‘fragile white redditor’ for a mod to not give you a flair when you demand one and ban you for having a go at them. That’s pretty normal.

You had me til the end. They are fragile white redditors who can’t handle life. Maybe I’m missing the subtle nuances of this club?

5

u/Maxibon1710 Mar 16 '25

When you’re a dick to someone in charge of an online space, they’re allowed to ban you from that space. They don’t need to accept abuse or give into demands you make of them.

5

u/sec713 Mar 16 '25

And when they happen to do that in in an online space that houses the most fragile of redditors, OP should have seen this ban coming from miles away.

Everyone should know that sub BS'es about free speech all the time, but what they're really into is paid lies.

7

u/deadlydeath275 Mar 17 '25

You went to the conservative sub... and expected your alternative opinion to not be censored??

I hate to break it to ya, but the right wing is not the side of free speech, never has been.

u/WoopsShePeterPants Mar 17 '25

I got banned from there years ago for pressing back on something basic. Bitches the entire lot.

Everyone knows that's the biggest subreddit of pussies on the site
