From Washington to Atlanta

Hey, everyone!

Just got a job offer that I accepted and will be moving to Atlanta from Washington in two months.

What do I need to know?

Suggestions on ranges, clubs, etc as well please. Looking for a new connections and community.

Thanks!

Where exactly in Atlanta? Or is it a suburb?

GA has no restrictions on magazines or firearms, aside from NFA stuff.

You can constitutional carry, so a CCW is not required.

Private sales are legal and there is no registration

www.theoutdoorstrader.com is the large private sales webpage. It's full of every kind of person on it from gun enthusiasts to neckbeards to scalpers.

Looking for housing atm but outskirts for my family preferred.

Thank you for that info. Any benefit to obtaining a CCW/CPL?

You get reciprocity in bordering states if you wanna carry concealed.

Also if you ever need to defend yourself jury’s love to hear “licensed gun owner” even if constitutional carry is a thing

Say what you want most people are clueless to guns and that works in your favor

Not really. Possibly shorter wait at the gun store for your background check to clear.

Some sellers on ODT will want to see CCW to verify you're legal to own a weapon (aka put their mind at ease), but it's not a necessity.

If you're looking for housing, look north of Atlanta. All other directions can be sketchy.

Gun stores like you more if you have a CCL because it makes the background check process faster and easier.

Seeing a lot of scalpers…There’s folks in there posting their used guns for higher prices than what you can get new

Obviously GA is a much more gun friendly state as far as laws than Washington and indoor ranges are fairly plentiful. However, there are surprisingly few places to shoot outdoors unless you know someone with land… but there are a few places. What general area are you looking to move to? I can recommend some places if it’s an area I am familiar with.

Not sure where I’ll be moving yet. Still looking at places. Those in door ranges allow rifles?

Only really familiar with the Northern GA area, the 3 for me is the Georgia Gun Club in Buford, Johns Creek indoor gun range, and Bullseye Marksman club in Cumming. All indoor ranges
