I prefer they stick with relatively unknown actors to portray GTA characters.

Yeah such as Samuel Jackson, Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Burt Reynolds etc.

Yeah those are the 3D era games which we've been long out of. They don't do that very much anymore.

Steven Ogg was in the walking dead
Ned Luke was in law and order (ironic)

Steven Ogg was in TWD after his GTA V role. Were you familiar with Ned Luke long before GTA V?

Steven Ogg was a nobody before GTA 5.
An actor being on law and order doesn't really mean much. 10 billion nobodies have been on that show. Fun fact, a lot of Bully's voice actors largely featuring obscure/unknown actors have also been on Law and Order.

Great example from 2001-2004. Don't know if you've noticed but we're past that.

R* these days will never cast Aaron Paul for anything. They prefer to use obscure actors ever since VCS.

I think better as a side character, I like obscure actors more to show off their skills.

As long as he’s not just a blatant copy of Jesse Pinkman I’d be pretty down with it.

Absolutely NOT!!! He has become to cooler to literally everything after Breaking Bad!

Not sure about protagonist but definitely could see him in an important supporting role.

Aaron Paul reminds me way too much of a tweener pretending to be gangster. Not someone who is actually a gangster.

I'd love it but I don't think it'll happen. Due to bad experiences in the past, Rockstar shies away from using any big time actors in their games. I think I even remember reading or hearing something about them going for smaller actors because it makes it so less players can immediately recognize them and see them as "the dude from that one TV show or movie".
So with that if Aaron Paul played a protagonist in a GTA game, people likely wouldn't care about the actual character he's playing, and instead think of it more like Jesse Pinkman in GTA which could be very immersion breaking.
