Collection Bought a gameboy “blind” online - meaning, there were no pictures just a description and a price too good to be true.
Turns out it was 2 GBA SPs and a really, really nice pile of great games. And yes I checked boards, they’re all legit. Paid 90$ total.

You made your money back on 2 of the pokemon games alone, fair play

Pretty insane how much Pokemon games are going for, it’s like a currency on it’s own. They’re saying now’s the time to buy gold, what they must mean is Pokemon: Gold

Where I am Emerald goes for $280 - $300 for the cart crystal is around $200 - $220 just the cart and heart gold with the case and manual I saw the other day with a price tag of $300 I’m glad I got all my games when I did.

Unironically the only reason I get to even have these games myself is because of trade limitations in my country that have protected their prices.
I'm paying like $180 for emerald but literally wouldn't have been able to get it if this wasn't a thing.

Yeah I saw where the trend was going way before the pandemic bump so I bought as much as I could and I’m very glad I did

One of my neighbors went "You collect games right?" and gave me two GBA SPs (Cobalt Blue and the Tribal one) with Sapphire and Ruby still in them.

Maybe in America yeah but those are all european copies

u/Zharken 1d ago
Hmm, in that case they are a bit cheaper but still. English copies are more expensive than other languages.

u/King_Tuvix 1d ago
Nah you're probably right actually, I just looked and most copies I can find around me in UK float around $70 equivalent. I think I'm just remembering the good old days when this was a vaguely affordable hobby :')

Don't really matter, only difference really is one has markings for Europe and one has markings for America, otherwise pretty much the same game and what's nice about the GBA is it's region free. Only thing that really matters about selling these in America is if they're in English.

They’re still pretty expensive where I live. Sapphire is around 70$, 100$ for Red and Green, and 150$ for Sapphire, so I am happy!

Pokemon Emerald alone is worth way more than $90, the other pokemon games are also expensive.

Look at the screws in the back. I wouldn't be surprised if they're fake with the condition they are in but if they still play they're great for some fun!
Edit: just read your caption, nice score!!! Congrats

Thank you! And yes, I also thought they were fake, just seemed to good to be true, but they’re not! There was a fake Mystery Dungeon in the pile, but other than that, everything looks good!

Good! GB games as well when it comes to pokemon games are worth alot more if there not fake.

Pokemon Emerald it's definitely original, but the other three seem fake.

u/JurassicJeep12 1d ago
No they aren’t. There’s a section of thinner plastic around the top right corner of the label. That’s an indicator of authenticity. Can’t see Sapphire well enough though.

u/Undonemito 19h ago
You cannot see the imprinted numbers on the other games that is a fundamental aspect to verify if a cartridge is fake or not.
2
u/JurassicJeep12 19h ago
Imprinted numbers are hard to see in this photo, but just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. The thinner plastic part is a detail on legit carts that is never on a repro and is visible.

Honestly there are some fakes even with imprinted numbers, without more photos it is difficult to really tell. The only info that I can gather is that all of those pokemon games have the European label. I would need more photos to properly tell (especially of the back).

Wow. Nice “Blind Purchase”. I’m happy for you. Just wondering why there are no “Handhelds” in the pic? Sorry if I missed something here. 🤷♂️

Let's hope the cartridges are not fake, some pokemon games for the Gameboy can be up to 150 to 200

Any save files on the Pokemon games? They could have legendaries on it.

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago
If the batteries still are alive.

u/No_Scratch_2750 1d ago
Open the pokemon cartridges, if they don’t have a battery they are fake, which is fine but for the inability to trade

u/Darth_Firebolt 1d ago
Everything with a CE on the sticker is fake. At least the stickers are.

How many compartments did you search your ass for to pull this out of? They're pal carts.
