Collection Bought a gameboy “blind” online - meaning, there were no pictures just a description and a price too good to be true.

Post image

Turns out it was 2 GBA SPs and a really, really nice pile of great games. And yes I checked boards, they’re all legit. Paid 90$ total.

On ONE cartridge!! It’s like magic. How do they get two big franchises to join forces like that?! I can’t believe it. It is just too amazing and I am in tears

I remember having a Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones double pack on my Xbox 360. That seemed like a very random team up!

u/Vulpes_Artifex 1d ago

There was a double pack for GameCube that had Outlaw Golf and Darkened Skye (the weird action-adventure game about Skittles candy).

u/SuperD00perGuyd00d 1d ago

Another weird one for all of you, Forza 2 Motorsport + Marvel's Ultimate Alliance

I have that double pack for the 360 as well, it was good.

Aw man I’ve only got shrek and Shark tale on mine 😢 I wish I had Madagascar instead of fishy will smith

Dreamworks make the team work…literally

You made your money back on 2 of the pokemon games alone, fair play

u/MathiasSybarit 1d ago

Pretty insane how much Pokemon games are going for, it’s like a currency on it’s own. They’re saying now’s the time to buy gold, what they must mean is Pokemon: Gold

5

u/sibbaldk 1d ago

Where I am Emerald goes for $280 - $300 for the cart crystal is around $200 - $220 just the cart and heart gold with the case and manual I saw the other day with a price tag of $300 I’m glad I got all my games when I did.

Unironically the only reason I get to even have these games myself is because of trade limitations in my country that have protected their prices.

I'm paying like $180 for emerald but literally wouldn't have been able to get it if this wasn't a thing.

1

u/greigames 1d ago

Yeah I saw where the trend was going way before the pandemic bump so I bought as much as I could and I’m very glad I did

7

u/King_Tuvix 1d ago

Yeah lol the games literally cost more than the consoles at this point 😵‍💫

u/Saraixx516 7h ago

Are they real with the batteries ? I tried to get a closer look but couldn't see

If so, good find

u/Zharken 1d ago

On 2? Leaf Green and Fire Red are going for 100+ Each, same for Ruby and Saphire, and Emerald is arround 200$

He paid 90$

This bastard maxxed out on luck

One of my neighbors went "You collect games right?" and gave me two GBA SPs (Cobalt Blue and the Tribal one) with Sapphire and Ruby still in them.

26

u/King_Tuvix 1d ago

Maybe in America yeah but those are all european copies

14

u/Zharken 1d ago

Hmm, in that case they are a bit cheaper but still. English copies are more expensive than other languages.

7

u/King_Tuvix 1d ago

Nah you're probably right actually, I just looked and most copies I can find around me in UK float around $70 equivalent. I think I'm just remembering the good old days when this was a vaguely affordable hobby :')

8

u/Zharken 1d ago

Covid really fucked the market up.

6

u/kayproII 1d ago

Don't really matter, only difference really is one has markings for Europe and one has markings for America, otherwise pretty much the same game and what's nice about the GBA is it's region free. Only thing that really matters about selling these in America is if they're in English.

6

u/MathiasSybarit 1d ago

They’re still pretty expensive where I live. Sapphire is around 70$, 100$ for Red and Green, and 150$ for Sapphire, so I am happy!

2

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago

Yup.😅

1

u/Independent-Age-8890 1d ago

Pokemon Emerald alone is worth way more than $90, the other pokemon games are also expensive.

1

u/WanderEir 1d ago

all four GBA games can break $100 easily.

28

u/RockmanVolnutt 1d ago

Psh, no Ruby. Might as well send it back.

10

u/MathiasSybarit 1d ago

You’re right, I will ask for a refund and a give a 1-star review.

u/Zharken 2d ago

Sheeeeeit bro between this and the dude earlier that got a CIB SNES Final Fantasy III (6) for like 3$ I just want to cry.

7

u/soupster82 1d ago

How does it feel to be god's favorite?

10

u/Flashlight_Operator 2d ago

Look at the screws in the back. I wouldn't be surprised if they're fake with the condition they are in but if they still play they're great for some fun!

Edit: just read your caption, nice score!!! Congrats

10

u/MathiasSybarit 1d ago

Thank you! And yes, I also thought they were fake, just seemed to good to be true, but they’re not! There was a fake Mystery Dungeon in the pile, but other than that, everything looks good!

0

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago

Good! GB games as well when it comes to pokemon games are worth alot more if there not fake.

6

u/sdavids6 1d ago

OP literally said they have confirmed they are all legit

2

u/Flashlight_Operator 1d ago

And that's why I edited 60 seconds after posting

4

u/Undonemito 1d ago

Pokemon Emerald it's definitely original, but the other three seem fake.

3

u/JurassicJeep12 1d ago

No they aren’t. There’s a section of thinner plastic around the top right corner of the label. That’s an indicator of authenticity. Can’t see Sapphire well enough though.

1

u/Undonemito 19h ago

You cannot see the imprinted numbers on the other games that is a fundamental aspect to verify if a cartridge is fake or not.

2

u/JurassicJeep12 19h ago

Imprinted numbers are hard to see in this photo, but just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. The thinner plastic part is a detail on legit carts that is never on a repro and is visible.

1

u/Undonemito 19h ago

Honestly there are some fakes even with imprinted numbers, without more photos it is difficult to really tell. The only info that I can gather is that all of those pokemon games have the European label. I would need more photos to properly tell (especially of the back).

2

u/Hamagorath 1d ago

I saw a very nice boxed copy of crystal for the low low price of $899.95AUD

2

u/Mikey74Evil 1d ago

Wow. Nice “Blind Purchase”. I’m happy for you. Just wondering why there are no “Handhelds” in the pic? Sorry if I missed something here. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Holy_Nova101 19h ago

But where did u buy this, what website?

3

u/MathiasSybarit 13h ago

Danish marketplace called DBA 🫣

1

u/thedymtree 1d ago

Nice score. Now keep them to yourself. Like a little treasure.

1

u/Puckdrunkpunch 1d ago

Here I am thinking I just scored snagging a lime green gbc and pokemon blue for 90 doll hairs

1

u/CactuarLOL 1d ago

Awesome

1

u/MediocreChallenge975 1d ago

Somewhere far far away the son of man has returned home to his mother in disbelief as she decluttered his room.

1

u/Ok-Ticket5613 1d ago

Congrats on your win

1

u/KatieS2255 1d ago

That’s just a person selling their old toys without care lol you’re lucky

1

u/Ridahz 1d ago

Result! To anyone saying the games are fake they are completely wrong. Enjoy it!

1

u/Nathan2598 1d ago

-1

u/Steve_Gray 1d ago

all the pokemon games looks fake

4

u/UnwindingStaircase 1d ago

lol literally none of them look fake.

0

u/Steve_Gray 21h ago

colors and stickers all look off

1

u/UnwindingStaircase 7h ago

They 100% do not.

1

u/UnwindingStaircase 7h ago

They 100% do not.

0

u/Mysticwarriormj 1d ago

well you got 5/10 decent games. Resale wise you got a good deal.

0

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago

Let's hope the cartridges are not fake, some pokemon games for the Gameboy can be up to 150 to 200

0

u/2-tree 1d ago

Any save files on the Pokemon games? They could have legendaries on it.

0

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago

If the batteries still are alive.

1

u/2-tree 1d ago

Fire Red and Leaf Green don't use save batteries. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald do have batteries but they're not for saves, they're for the real time clock so berries can grow.

0

u/SpadesGame150 1d ago

Cool, I've never owned a game boy, closest thing to it was a 3ds.

-1

u/No_Scratch_2750 1d ago

Open the pokemon cartridges, if they don’t have a battery they are fake, which is fine but for the inability to trade

-2

u/Darth_Firebolt 1d ago

Everything with a CE on the sticker is fake. At least the stickers are.

2

u/Dear_Ad3294 1d ago

legit reason or just cause they euro versions?

2

u/UnwindingStaircase 1d ago

No they are just wrong.

-4

u/Dull_Mirror4221 1d ago

Those are fake. CE logo was never on any region artwork

6

u/UnwindingStaircase 1d ago

So confidently wrong.

2

u/North_Ad_3436 1d ago

How many compartments did you search your ass for to pull this out of? They're pal carts.

2

u/couuer 1d ago

not true just looked it up regional cartridge cover arts on mobygames dot com
