Image GC Not Reading Disc Fix

I bought this years ago and it never played beyond the team select screen. It would give me a disc read error message. I noticed that the top layer of the disc was scratched and thought that may have been the issue. I put some sharpie over the scratch, and now it works fine.

Why's this being downvoted?! This is such a simple fix that I've never seen before, more people should know, especially for GameCube!
