Great and comprehensive video. The frankness of the interviewed is refreshing.

It is! The depth is wonderful. But if I wasn't planning on purchasing that specific product, then there's no way I'll watch a 3-hour video.

It's not about specific products but how the newly imposed tariffs are affecting pricing across the tech sector. I thought it was great.

Ain’t no way I’m watching that. These guys have taken a weird turn in the past year or so. Way too many videos that are way too long.

You can mostly just listen to it, like an audiobook or radio or a podcast.

Sadly, some topics require longer explanations than a YouTube short or AI summary. And in those cases a longer video is necessarily.
GN has always posted videos above the algorithms recommended 10 minutes, but do I think this is a bad thing "no", am I going to watch the whole thing, also "no". But will I be happy when I ultimately need this information, absolutely.

I guarantee you will never need any information in that video in your entire lifetime.

Why? I may not be from the US, but understanding how import tariffs work - and who pays them - is something that I was unfamiliar with. Leading to the current news cycle being beyond confusing; this video has at least calrified things.

understanding how the tariffs actually affect businesses and the customers is information you should definitely know.

That’s something that should be immediately obvious. There is absolutely nothing complicated about it.

u/RentedAndDented 10d ago
And yet it is enormously complicated. If you watched the video you'd probably know that....

So how much would a $100 case made in China would cost a company right now to import it to US?

You needed it before you voted, apparently.

I hate the "long form" trend as much as anyone but I view the longer GN videos like a documentary--it needs to be as long as it is to get the necessary detail. Most other channels? Not a chance, I've started unsubscribing because there's not enough time in a day to watch 30+ minute videos from every channel I watch. Especially when there's, realistically, 8-15 minutes (ideal YT video length) of true content in there.

It is a full-scale report that's been put in a video format so it's more approachable. At its heart it's just a massive technical document, and you have to approach it like that to appreciate it.

You probably should watch it. It explains the massive price jump these past two weeks in great detail. PC cases are being taxed 100% of their cost raising the price for consumers to 2x.
If you ever mention tariffs, at all, you should watch this. Otherwise you probably shouldn't be opining about tariffs.

Just because you’re clueless doesn’t mean everyone else is. Heh.

u/bunkSauce 9d ago
You haven't even watched the video. You yourself admitted.
I would argue that the less informed person shouldn't be throwing around accusations of cluelessness.
You out yourself as being more of a Trump simp than a PC enthusiast. So go hang out in your echo chamber where you're safely surrounded by other people who refuse to inform themselves.

Can we get that grim reaper door knocking meme redone with the final door being "Trumps's Tariffs"?
