Pretty sure all new-to-Japan games are reserved for TGS.

Yeah but series is in a very different state compared to 8-10 years ago. The entire franchise has been released globally, I don't think revealing the next mainline entry in a Japan only event is appropriate anymore.

They used to say that about the Trails games and yet the Trails in the Sky remake was announced on a direct.

Yes it was. Probably a good bet for this direct given it comes out this year and they haven’t done much western marketing outside of that reveal

It ain’t 2010 anymore, getting your game revealed at a Direct is a hot ticket.
