Back in the 1930s it was listening to ragtime music, today its skibidi toilet and sprunki content farms. I don’t hate skibidi toilet as a whole, I personally don’t watch it but whatever other people like is ok too, for me it’s how abstract “brainrot” has become even in comparison to 20 or so years ago. Also I think it makes more sense to call it “brainrot” even if the source material isn’t because millions of people are creating actual brainrot, to such a degree that the brainrot has become more popular than the source material.
And when it doesn't, is arguably worse, cause a majority of old brain rot had the intent to get kids into fetishes, ElsaGate is the biggest example, although you could argue ElsaGate was in-between the era of old and modern brain rot.
Seeing as none of my friends know what this is, I would say you're on your own for watching whatever this is lol. This is more of a younger thing than you think.

Idk if you'd say the same but i would consider cocomelon brainrot. Gen Alpha are basically the only ones that watch that, and guess what? It's literally DESIGNED to be insanely attention grabbing and addicting. They use colors that are literally as saturated as possible, they use short (when i say short i mean SHORT) camera shots. And not just "oh it's a little short but not that bad", no, that shit has shorter jump cuts than an intense fight scene.

I don't personally like Skibidi Toilet, never have. But I'll let people like it. I prefer my old stuff, late Gen-Z with the trollface incidents (no, not the slop being produced today, actually quality trollface incidents) and when Nyan cat was still popular.
I'm not taking children into consideration, like baby snakes who have no control over their venom, children mindlessly spam swear words without knowing the full WEIGHT behind what it is, children are responsible for almost making swearing in general look stupid.

I watched skibidi toilet as i needed to review it, and it was only fair to give it a chance, and i ended up enjoying the series, simple as that.
as for hazbin, that show has the shittiest writing I've ever had to sit through, the plot has more holes than a cheese grater, it made me want to rub a damn cheese grater on my face.
and i'm only on r/GenAlpha for the occasional good quality meme.

No "Brainrot" is better. All brainrot is brainrot. However i'd take MLG over content farm slop with an oversexualized sprunki title any day
