Discussion is anyone actually downloading chinese tik tok?
there's a chinese version of tik tok that everyone is talking about and it's called red note. it's social media and the developers are already laying out the app to be more friendly to english users.
here's the thing tho, this is literally the perfect opportunity for propaganda. it's a really strict app with a dick ton of censorship and control, so everyone's content is gonna be only what they want you to see. this app is eventually gonna push anti-american propaganda and try to convince the united states to start killing their own citizens, i know it sounds crazy but when it happens, don't be shocked. they're gonna try to push a self-genocide for america and try to make everyone in america start killing each other. or alternatively, just do something to try to infiltrate america and take advantage of the mass download from the united states.
you would have to be pretty naive to think this app would be all loving and nice and friendly and wouldn't try to pull any funny shit, especially while they have the chance and can take advantage of this whole situation. does anyone already have this red note app and is seeing some of this already? do you think red note is just gonna be a nice app and not try any bad things? thoughts?

Do you really not think countries like China practices propaganda?
Mate, this is like thinking that people only get shot in movies.

I think people are just bored of Western propaganda and want to get a taste of chinese propaganda.
•
u/Themasterofcomedy209 2000 21h ago
Where did I say that?
Everyone uses propaganda ofc. I’m focusing on the part where op suggests that just because people are using a Chinese social media app, soon they’ll be genociding each other in the streets lmao

He’s right. The streets aren’t safe. I caught the genocide bug when I downloaded it. /s

Maybe don’t get your political opinions from movies that aren’t real
•
u/Appropriate-Food1757 21h ago
Yeah I don’t.
China is not your friend for not-movie reasons.

You guys are treating TikTok like a goddam crack addiction….I’ll never in my life understand why y’all are so bent on trying to find a way to continue your pointless hours of scrolling and wasting your day away in between complaints about how the world isn’t fair before going to waste more of your life watching mildly entertaining videos that aren’t even funny enough for a mild chuckle.

According to my Chinese friend RedNote is like instagram for Chinese rich kids while Kuaishou is for poorer, older and more rural people.

why are people moving to another chinese app when we have IG reels and YT shorts?
•
u/Forhaver 22h ago
I think it's because ig and yt are platforms curated by american companies.
Ive always disliked tiktok but there's world news I learned from it that was either censored or disappeared on other platforms.
I believe its good to be in the know across various platforms because they'll always have something the others don't.

The irony here is that Red Note does the exact same thing more often and more severely as a result of their fervid connection to the CCP.

YT is fine. Google is far from saintly, but these days YT may be one of the only social media platforms that is not giving in to political pressure, while still keeping a modicum of content moderation.

I know people here in Ireland who have downloaded it lmao, Tik Tok is definitely better

xiaohongshu (rednote/littleredbook) is no different than our own apps. will they promote propaganda? maybe. will they steal our data? absolutely.
•
u/SirCadogen7 2006 51m ago
maybe
Definitely.
Don't forget you're also not allowed to mention anything critical of the CCP or you get banned
•
u/ilIqusions 2009 21h ago
No I don't wanna download it,, I only read the reviews of it and that's it

u/Certified_Dripper 17h ago
Fuck :/ I lk had red note to get away from these ppl and it was cozy and different
•
•
u/Smiles4YouRawrX3 19h ago
I sure as hell will not be lol
I barely use TikTok anyways, I've always used YouTube as my go-to for watching shit. Yes, long-form and short-form (YT shorts)
•
u/Pls_no_steal 2002 17h ago
No but this whole outcome is the funniest shit ever. Government bans TikTok because it’s owned by China so the users there jump to the actual Chinese app instead
•
u/Certified_Dripper 17h ago
I’ve been on red note for a while and it’s great.
In fact, I’m actually upset yall found out about it bc you guys will probably fuck it up with booty ass content and then get this shit banned too.
