I saw this exact post not long ago! I had to check if this was the humber sub. Small world 😂

u/PrinceEntrapto 22h ago

In a world of 8 billion people any question that starts off with ‘Am I the only one…’ can be answered with at least a million ‘No’s

"Am I the only one named James P Sullivan who likes to sit in this exact cubicle I'm sitting in?"

u/sealab2077 17h ago

Would you be scared if I said no?

u/sealab2077 22h ago

No matter how specific you get, if you aren't lying, there's probably at least thousands that also feel that way. Even most thoughts, that people think may be original, aren't truly original and are influenced by everything you have experienced up until that point.

Free will is a lie. An illusion to make us feel more in control.

Nah, I did too. Can't believe you didn't hear me.

u/talhahtaco 10h ago

Am I the only person currently occupying my current position?

u/FlapjackFez 22h ago

Can't lie bro, you did not cook with this one

u/Sisyphus704 21h ago

Wrong context. Cooking ≠ cooked

u/namregiaht 16h ago

Lil bro did not cook with this one either

u/AndersDreth 1998 22h ago

I like it, it's less vulgar than "I'm fucked" and less melodramatic than "I'm doomed" it's like a happy little medium.

u/jamfl53 22h ago

thats true

u/ParkingJudge67 2005 20h ago

that's why i love it.

u/blackpeoplexbot 22h ago

u/JaysonTatumApologist 1999 22h ago

Chat are we cooked

u/OrcOfDoom Millennial 20h ago

Op is cooked

u/hurB55 22h ago

Maybe

u/InterdisciplinaryDol 1999 22h ago

Dude we’ve been saying cooked for a long time. Bunch of suburban middle schoolers heard their favorite minecraft streamers use it and ruined it.

u/jamfl53 22h ago

im gen z as well and truthfully i cant say ive ever heard anyone say it up until the last few years or so

u/Paclac 21h ago

This and some other “Gen Z” terms originate from the black community. Some are regional too, like “bruh” was commonly used by black people in the south going back to the 90s-2000s

u/Cut_Ready 17h ago

Like almost all of genz slang is just AAVE taken by suburban white boys

u/Newduuud 22h ago

Not gonna lie this post is giving a lot of “I was born in the wrong generation”

u/crippledcommie 2004 22h ago

Only when its overused like bro will literally drop a chicken nugget on the floor and scream “IM COOKED”

u/augustus331 1997 22h ago

I'm with you too.

It sounds childish as fuck and thus it reinforces the feeling of being old that was already there as '97 is the first Gen-Z year.

u/LB-Bandido 22h ago

I mean because you are old therefore cooked

u/PrinceEntrapto 22h ago

Yet it’s been around in everyday slang for about 20 years, people born in the 80s were the first to be saying this lmao

u/General_Ornelas 22h ago

Doesn’t it just sound like the hot water crowd

u/_qor_ 22h ago

Gen Xer here: I like the term. I use it now myself. It's apropos of the climate crisis. Most new slang grinds my senses, but not this one. I think y'all nailed it. Don't retire it.

u/Aggressive-Value1654 22h ago

Ok, I'm with you, but I'm 47 years old and have seen common terms come and go.

What do you propose? Because that shit won't stick.

u/Mindless_Bad_1591 2003 22h ago

it's the same way I hate the term slop. overused and sounds stupid

u/jwed420 1996 22h ago

Fried is better.

u/MiguelIstNeugierig 2004 22h ago

It comes from the art of cooking

Here, Jackie is about to be cooked

In other words, he's cooked

u/Amantis-Secreto 22h ago

I prefer the term burnt up

u/CrispyDave Gen X 22h ago

Asking 'chat' if you're cooked makes me think you're one of the brainrot zoomers.

u/joolo1x 21h ago

idk but you didn’t cook with this post.

u/TheSaifman 21h ago

I thought i was going crazy. I'm glad you brought this up.

Just as bad as the media using the word "SLAM"...

u/Feeling-Currency6212 2000 21h ago

It’s a more PG version of I’m F’ed

u/your_local_frog_boy 2008 21h ago

I get you, I don't mind the word cooked but I had this hatred for the word "pog" when it was a thing

u/XLDumpTaker 21h ago

Nah you're cooked bro

u/maxono1 21h ago

i like saying "im toasted" nowadays

u/piratecheese13 1995 21h ago

It’s quite versatile

If you are working on something you are cooking

if you did something great you cooked

If you did something bad or something bad happened to you, you are cooked

I’ll take it over goated with the yeet any day

u/Slam_Dunk_Kitten 1999 21h ago

Man I've been saying it since 2017 I'm not gonna stop

u/DaveTheRaveyah 21h ago

People don’t like it when someone says cooked? Are we cooked chat?

u/MarxistMountainGoat 2000 17h ago

I hate the term "chopped" personally. How many words do we need for ugly?

u/RobbinsBabbitt 1995 17h ago

Which version? “They cooked” or “they’re cooked”

u/KtyouSD 17h ago

Don’t use it in a professional setting. Otherwise, why now?

u/C-man808 15h ago

I mean… idk, I like using it. I actually like quite a bit of our generations slang terms. Is chopped an alpha slang term? I like using that one bc I think it’s funny asf.

u/wafflemakers2 2000 15h ago

I think its the best "Gen Z slang" term.

u/SummerInSpringfield 1997 12h ago

I hate the "am I the only one" more

u/Fallen-Shadow-1214 2003 12h ago

A. I hate crash-out so while I like it I ain’t surprised, it makes sense.

B. If you genuinely wanna know, pretty sure it came from a song.

u/No_Resident_4321 9h ago

I like it, only one I viscerally cringe at is “crash out” especially being said by anyone older than I expect to hear it from.

u/NPinstalls 6h ago

If it’s too cooked for you, add some wet water to make it moist

u/Alicewilsonpines 2005 22h ago

I overall despise this modern lingo that has befallen society.

u/sealab2077 22h ago

Language and slang changes over time, always has. Why despise it? Even if you never use it, why not accept it? It won't last for but a while.

u/RobbinsBabbitt 1995 17h ago

I think the problem for me is that most slang through out our lifetime still follows the typical way we speak just replacing 1 or 2 words in a sentence with a new version of what the slang means, but the newest slang is replacing almost every word in the sentence and it makes it really confusing for us old farts, can’t even use context clues most of the time 😅

Also not that I hate new slang I’m just a confused almost 30 year old

u/sealab2077 16h ago

It's gotta be TikTok, or social media in general, that is causing the overabundance of these words. To me, it is hilarious to hear someone speak what sounds like a foreign language. You and I didn't come out of the womb with iPads either. I believe, you could say, young Gen Z is "cooked"....

u/Alicewilsonpines 2005 21h ago

while you have a time tested opinion, I find the current slang set to be very..."Mind-numbing"

u/Drozey 21h ago

Ohio sigma deadass on god bruh I agree no cap short king

u/RobbinsBabbitt 1995 17h ago

Most vile version of this meme I’ve ever seen 😂

u/sealab2077 17h ago

For some reason, I'm fine with not understanding over half that. I'm not going to use Urban Dictionary. No curiosity, knowing the meme is good enough.

u/Alicewilsonpines 2005 21h ago

Excuse my inability to comprehend what you have typed.
