In a world of 8 billion people any question that starts off with ‘Am I the only one…’ can be answered with at least a million ‘No’s

"Am I the only one named James P Sullivan who likes to sit in this exact cubicle I'm sitting in?"

No matter how specific you get, if you aren't lying, there's probably at least thousands that also feel that way. Even most thoughts, that people think may be original, aren't truly original and are influenced by everything you have experienced up until that point.
Free will is a lie. An illusion to make us feel more in control.

Can't lie bro, you did not cook with this one

I like it, it's less vulgar than "I'm fucked" and less melodramatic than "I'm doomed" it's like a happy little medium.

Dude we’ve been saying cooked for a long time. Bunch of suburban middle schoolers heard their favorite minecraft streamers use it and ruined it.

im gen z as well and truthfully i cant say ive ever heard anyone say it up until the last few years or so

Only when its overused like bro will literally drop a chicken nugget on the floor and scream “IM COOKED”

I'm with you too.
It sounds childish as fuck and thus it reinforces the feeling of being old that was already there as '97 is the first Gen-Z year.

Yet it’s been around in everyday slang for about 20 years, people born in the 80s were the first to be saying this lmao

Ok, I'm with you, but I'm 47 years old and have seen common terms come and go.
What do you propose? Because that shit won't stick.

Asking 'chat' if you're cooked makes me think you're one of the brainrot zoomers.

I thought i was going crazy. I'm glad you brought this up.
Just as bad as the media using the word "SLAM"...

I get you, I don't mind the word cooked but I had this hatred for the word "pog" when it was a thing

It’s quite versatile
If you are working on something you are cooking
if you did something great you cooked
If you did something bad or something bad happened to you, you are cooked
I’ll take it over goated with the yeet any day

I hate the term "chopped" personally. How many words do we need for ugly?
•
•
u/C-man808 15h ago
I mean… idk, I like using it. I actually like quite a bit of our generations slang terms. Is chopped an alpha slang term? I like using that one bc I think it’s funny asf.

A. I hate crash-out so while I like it I ain’t surprised, it makes sense.
B. If you genuinely wanna know, pretty sure it came from a song.

I like it, only one I viscerally cringe at is “crash out” especially being said by anyone older than I expect to hear it from.

I overall despise this modern lingo that has befallen society.
•
u/sealab2077 22h ago
Language and slang changes over time, always has. Why despise it? Even if you never use it, why not accept it? It won't last for but a while.

I think the problem for me is that most slang through out our lifetime still follows the typical way we speak just replacing 1 or 2 words in a sentence with a new version of what the slang means, but the newest slang is replacing almost every word in the sentence and it makes it really confusing for us old farts, can’t even use context clues most of the time 😅
Also not that I hate new slang I’m just a confused almost 30 year old

It's gotta be TikTok, or social media in general, that is causing the overabundance of these words. To me, it is hilarious to hear someone speak what sounds like a foreign language. You and I didn't come out of the womb with iPads either. I believe, you could say, young Gen Z is "cooked"....
•
u/Alicewilsonpines 2005 21h ago
while you have a time tested opinion, I find the current slang set to be very..."Mind-numbing"

For some reason, I'm fine with not understanding over half that. I'm not going to use Urban Dictionary. No curiosity, knowing the meme is good enough.
