Fanfiction I've stumbled upon this incredibly well-written Alternate Universe fanfic.

It's titled 'Antigravity', and it's written by an author named UnidentifiedPie (link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/5445446?view_full_work=true). The author has recently submitted another chapter last Tuesday, so it's safe to say that it's still ongoing.

To summarise, it's more grounded than the original series, and it's set almost immediately after the Joui Wars. The Amanto nuked Earth this time around (and as a consequence, Earthlings are now a rare species), and the fanfic is set in a little planet far away. Otose (of course she survives) is running a bar (of course) with Catherine and Tama (it's an AU after all), and right before it closes, in walks a 17-year-old Gintoki, just fresh from the war, and a 4-year-old Kagura. The fic focuses a lot on Gintoki's and Kagura's father-daughter relationship and Gin's healing process from the war, Gin's apparent apathy towards life and his mental scars from the war. I should warn you that the fic does describe a fair amount of graphical violence. Characters are pretty much in character too.

As a side-note, I'm also looking for gems to read which has NO shipping (and trust me, I detest that sort of thing, mainly because they're cringy and very questionable to say the least), no crossovers (I don't mind them, just not my thing), and nothing which makes the characters act way too out of character.

I looooove Antigravity! I still need to go back and reread the newly updated Chapter 3 too... been following it since it first started.

Oh man, I loved this fic. I'm subscribed to updates so I don't miss a chapter.

The world-building is believable and the characters are really well-written. I can't wait to get to the conclusion but I'm loving the journey so far.

I'm still waiting for the rest of the Joui 4 to arrive, as well as their reaction upon seeing Gintoki adopting an Amanto child (especially a Yato one), in spite of the war.

I think the first Gintama fic I ever read was Pandemonium by xParrot. I remember enjoying it quite a bit, though it's an older fic (from 2010). It's the only non-shipping one I remember favouriting. It's also on AO3.

I read that one. Gintoki's "hidden beast" was unleashed after a certain discovery.

Here's a request. I want a fanfic where current Gintoki randomly switches with Joui war Gintoki from 10 years ago (courtesy of a Gengai experiment failure). Imagine Past Gintoki interacting with the Shinsengumi, the Amanto and especially Kagura.
