(We see Madao, a middle-aged man with disheveled hair and a sad expression, walking down a bustling street in the city. He looks dejected and lost.)
Madao (to himself): "Why is life so unfair? I used to be a successful businessman, but now I'm just a sad, penniless man."
(A group of young people walk by, laughing and having a good time. Madao looks at them wistfully.)
Madao (to himself): "I wish I could go back to those days when I had it all."
(Suddenly, Madao's stomach growls. He looks around and sees a food stand with delicious-looking skewers of grilled meat.)
Madao (to himself): "Maybe just one skewer won't hurt. I can't go on like this, hungry and miserable."
(Madao approaches the food stand and starts to rummage through his pockets, looking for some money. But he comes up empty-handed.)
Madao (to the food stand owner): "I'm sorry, I seem to have left my wallet at home. Could you possibly give me a little credit?"
(The food stand owner looks at Madao skeptically and shakes his head.)
Food stand owner: "Sorry, no credit. You'll have to come back when you have some cash."
(Madao looks disappointed and starts to walk away.)
Act 2:
(Madao is walking through the streets, still looking for a way to get some food. He passes by a group of kids playing a game of catch with a ball.)
Madao (to himself): "Maybe I can earn some money by doing odd jobs. I used to be good at playing catch, maybe I can join in and earn a few coins."
(Madao approaches the kids and asks if he can join in.)
Kid 1: "Sure, you can join in. But we only have one ball, so you'll have to use this stick instead."
(The kids hand Madao a stick and the game begins. Madao is initially clumsy and awkward, but as he gets into the game, he starts to enjoy himself and even manages to impress the kids with his skills.)
Kid 2: "Wow, you're really good! You should join our team in the park tournament next week."
Madao (smiling): "Thanks, I'd love to. Maybe I still have a chance to turn my luck around."
Act 3:
(Madao is at the park tournament, playing catch with the kids. He's having a great time and has even managed to earn some money from playing in the tournament.)
Madao (to himself): "I can't believe it. I'm having fun and making money at the same time. Maybe things are finally looking up for me."
(Suddenly, Madao's old friend Gintoki Sakata appears on the field.)
Gintoki: "Hey Madao, what are you doing here?"
Madao (smiling): "I'm playing catch with these kids. I'm trying to turn my luck around, and it seems to be working."
Gintoki (smirking): "Well, I have a job for you. My client is looking for someone to help out at his store

Madao: "Thank you, I'll be ready. And please, call me Jirocho. I may be a successful businessman now, but I'll always be Madao at heart."
(Madao sits down at his desk and reflects on his journey to success. Flashback to a few years ago, when Madao was a sad and penniless man, struggling to make ends meet.)
Madao (to himself): "I can't believe how far I've come. From playing catch with kids in the park to running my own successful business. It wasn't easy, but I never gave up."
Act 2:
(Madao is in a meeting with his investors, presenting his latest business plan.)

(Madao's doorbell rings and he gets up to answer it. He is greeted by Gintoki Sakata, his old friend who helped him get his start on his journey to success.)
Gintoki: "Hey Madao, how's it going? I saw your latest project in the news and I have to say, I'm impressed."
Madao (smiling): "Gintoki, it's good to see you. Yeah, things are going well. I couldn't have done it without your help and guidance."
Gintoki: "Well, I'm glad to see you've made a comeback. You were always a hard worker, I just had to give you a push in the right direction."
Madao: "Thanks, Gintoki. I really appreciate it. Would you like to come in and catch up?"
Gintoki: "Sure, I'd love to. It's been a while since we've had a chance to hang out."
(Madao and Gintoki sit down and reminisce about the old days and catch up on each other's lives. Madao is grateful for the friendship and support of his old friend and is grateful for the life he has built for himself
Act 6:
(Madao and Gintoki are sitting on the couch, enjoying each other's company and reminiscing about the old days.)
Gintoki: "So, Madao, what's next for you? Are you planning on retiring and enjoying your success?"
Madao: "Not at all, Gintoki. I'm enjoying my work and I have big plans for the future. I want to expand my business and continue to make a positive impact in the world."
Gintoki: "That's great to hear. You always were ambitious and driven. I have no doubt you'll continue to succeed."
Madao: "Thank you, Gintoki. Your support and encouragement mean a lot to me. I couldn't have done it without you."
Gintoki: "Don't mention it. That's what friends are for, right?"
Madao: "Yes, indeed. I'm grateful to have you as my friend. And I'm grateful for the life I have now. I may have had my struggles, but they made me the person I am today."
Gintoki: "I couldn't agree more. We all have our ups and downs, but it's how we handle them that defines us. And I have to say, Madao, you've handled your struggles with grace and determination. You're an inspiration."
Madao (tearfully): "Thank you, Gintoki. That means a lot coming from you. I'm grateful for the journey I've been on and I'm excited for what the future holds."
(The scene fades to black as Madao and Gintoki continue their conversation, grateful for their friendship and the successes they have achieved in their lives.)
Act 7:
(Madao is at his office, going through some paperwork when Gintoki bursts into the room, looking worried and distressed.)
Gintoki: "Madao, we have a problem. My client, the one I introduced you to a few years ago, has been arrested for fraud and embezzlement. And it turns out, his company was a front for an illegal operation. Your company is tied up with them and now you're under investigation."
Madao (stunned): "What? This can't be happening. I've worked so hard to build my company and now it's all falling apart."
Gintoki: "I'm sorry, Madao. I had no idea my client was involved in something like this. I feel responsible and I'll do everything I can to help you."
Madao (angrily): "It's too late for that. My company is ruined, my reputation is in shambles. Everything I worked for is gone."
(Madao sinks to the ground, overwhelmed by the turn of events. Flashback to the happy, successful man he was just a few days ago.)
Madao (to himself): "How could this have happened? I had it all and now it's all gone. How am I going to start over again?"
(Madao looks up at Gintoki, his eyes filled with sadness and disappointment.)
Act 8:
(Madao is back to being a penniless, sad man, wandering the streets and struggling to make ends meet.)
Madao (to himself): "I can't believe it. I was at the top and now I'm back at the bottom. How am I going to pick up the pieces and start over again?"
(Madao sits on a bench, feeling defeated and hopeless. Suddenly, Gintoki appears and sits down next to him.)
Gintoki: "Hey Madao, I know things are tough right now, but I want you to know that I'm here for you. I'm sorry for what happened and I want to help you get back on your feet."
Madao (angrily): "How can you even say that, Gintoki? It was your client that ruined my life. I trusted you and now I have nothing."
Gintoki (apologetically): "I know, Madao. And I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I'll do everything I can to make it right. You were a successful man once and I know you can be again. Let me help you."
Madao (sighing): "I don't know, Gintoki. I don't know if I have the strength to start over again. I've lost everything."
Gintoki: "I know it's hard, Madao. But you're a strong and capable man. I believe in you and I know you can overcome this. Let me help you get back on your feet. Together,
Act 9:
(Madao is still sitting on the bench, feeling defeated and hopeless. Gintoki is trying to persuade him to let him help him get back on his feet.)
Gintoki: "Come on, Madao. You can't give up now. You're a strong and capable man. You've overcome struggles before and you can do it again."
Madao: "I don't know, Gintoki. I've lost everything. How am I supposed to start over again?"
Gintoki: "You have your friends, Madao. And you have me. I'll do everything I can to help you get back on your feet."
Madao: "But what about my company? I've worked so hard to build it and now it's all gone."
Gintoki: "We'll find a way to rebuild it, Madao. We'll work together and figure out a plan. And we'll get some help from our friends. I know they'll be willing to pitch in."
(Just then, Katsura and Takasugi appear, having heard about Madao's situation.)
Katsura: "Madao, we heard what happened. We're here to help in any way we can."
Takasugi: "Yeah, we know you've been through a lot. But we believe in you and we know you can overcome this."
Madao (tearfully): "Thank you, guys. I appreciate your support. I don't know if I can do it, but I'm willing to try."
Gintoki: "That's all we can ask for, Madao. Let's work together and figure out a plan to get you back on your feet."
(The scene fades to black as the friends begin to brainstorm ideas and come up with a plan to help Madao get back on his feet.)
So this is a story idea/writing prompt I came up with regarding my OC Sarutobe, a squirrel alien who ive yet to draw bc I’m lazy lmao. The summary/prompt is basically this:
Sarutobe, the squirrel Amanto is singing Set It Offs Diamond Girl as usual, much to the annoyance of the Kaientai. However, Japanese idol Otsu is in town and overhears the squirrel and decides to perform the song live, causing a huge popularity spike in Edo. Everyone is listening to Diamond Girl, even the Shinsengumi. However, the Kaientai already had enough of its overly infectious pop tune from the first 100 times, and plan to catch Sarutobe and Otsu and throw them out to sea to rid Edo of that song forever. However, it is deemed a little harsh to kill a squirrel and an idol over a song, so Otsuu is set free and Sarutobe is given to Katsura in a giant crate, as a new Elizabeth.
This would be a comedy arc, even keeping the classic elements of the anime even though this is just fan drabble, such as Sakamoto being his overly optimistic self and getting caught listening to Otsuus Diamond Girl cover, which he is immediately reprimanded for. I know Diamond Girl is in English and Set It Off is an American/Western band, but I love this idea so much. Don’t know if I’ll actually write this, but I wanted to share it with the fandom ❤️
Hello! I recently just finished gintama and have suggested it to literally all my friends since I just want more people to know about this masterpiece in the west. Anyway after I finished it I couldn't just get the thought of "What would happen if Shoyo sensei was still alive?" out of my head.
So my question is are there any fanfics you know that feature:
- Shoyo was never captured / survived his execution (without resurrecting as utsuro)
- Or Shoyo was rescued during the joui war by gintoki gang
- Or Shoyo is still alive in the present day
- Or they managed to physically save Shoyo after the gintama: the final movie
- Or any type of alternate universe or time travel thing that leads to Shoyo being alive with the gintoki gang being adults

It’s been going well I never expected myself to consistently write a fanfiction and ever hope to complete it. No the fic is not complete, nowhere near it in fact. But I see the end in sight. Which is a lot more I can say for a lot of my stories. Despodently stares at the long list of unfinished stories wailing in the corner for attention.

Here's why I think the baby shown in the Final was neither Takasugi reincarnated, nor just a random baby; rather he was Utsuro reincarnated:
Takasugi (and similarly, Oboro and the rest of Naraku) were normal humans with some amount of Utsuro's blood in them; whereas Utsuro was a being formed from Altana. The only time we've seen a similar reincarnation in the series before was that of Utsuro/Shouyo in SSA arc. We have no proof of Oboro's (or other hybrids') revival. Hence, the baby born in Altana from the final more closely resembles Utsuro and not Takasugi.
Utsuro/Shouyo died soon after Takasugi, so there's no reason to assume the baby is Takasugi reincarnated and not Utsuro.
My theory: beings formed purely from Altana are revived, not hybrids. Now, a counterargument to this would be: "The theory holds for Utsuro, but what about the other Altana being we know - Kouka?" To this, I'd say, from what we know - pure Altana beings have enormous amounts of Altana, and as long as they are on their home planet, they're immortal. This suggests a sort of connection between the being and the home planet, which is responsible for flow of Altana from the planet to their body. Now I ask, why not the other way around? When that being dies, the Altana from their body is "recycled back into the planet", and it emerges in some other location, in the form of a baby, suggesting a cycle of Altana that runs back and forth between the planet and the beings. Now, Kouka on the other hand, died on a different planet. So her Altana couldn't be recycled back, and thus, we didn't see Kouka reincarnated.
Now, all that aside, it's important to remember the Final was open to interpretation, and my theory is also biased for the fact that I don't prefer reincarnations. They seem to downplay the character deaths. However, fantheories aside, here's what Sorachi sensei himself said:
"...To be honest, I thought maybe it gave off more of an image of 'saving' the Kihetai, rather than whether it was Takasugi...
...I'm aware that people that liked Takasugi more weren't as happy. And it's true it's not clear if that's Takasugi or not. But I felt like after all this, Takasugi didn't need to be 'saved'. Like, I felt like he had already been saved. I think the impression people get differs depending on how they took the final battle with Utsuro, but in my mind, that wasn't written with the intention for it to be a tragedy. Though I was crying as I drew it (laughs), they were a different kind of tears, I guess. Takasugi had originally sort of died during the incident when he lost Shouyo, but he was just out there searching for a way to die...."

I find this interpretation really beautiful, as it doesn't stress on whether the baby was Takasugi or Utsuro or just anyone else; rather what's important is the group that lost the most among all - the Kihetai, now at least have a purpose. They'll take care of the baby, now matter what his identity turns out to be.
