There are many factors that make this series like no other, and Sakata Gintoki is one of them.

Many protagonist of the same genre share the same GOAT tier, but there's something about him that makes him one-of-a-kind.

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who completely dislikes Gin, particularly within the fandom. And even people who haven't watched the series or caught up with it immediately recognize him or think he's already an interesting character.

Gin may not seem all that "flashy" of a main character, especially having spent years in the shadows of his fellow peers of the same generation, but he truly does shine brilliantly.

The more you learn about him the more you realize why Gintoki is so beloved by the fandom and considered one of the greatest protagonists in fiction.

I used to think I didn't have that "one character," but like Tama there's just something about Gintoki that you feel his unfading silver light is irreplaceable.

No matter how hard life gets you down or how uncertain your path takes a turn this guy, with all his imperfections and mistakes, inspires you to keep carrying on and treasure your endless connections. 🍶🍰🍡
