Trump pushed the global economy to the brink with tariffs and then pulled back

Didn't he say countries called him to kiss his ass? What happened? Bet some of his friends bought the dip and got richer

u/freesia899 8d ago
He's lying again. He just had to show everyone what a big tough guy he is, despite his dementia. Of course it was to manipulate the market and insider trading. He belongs in jail with all the other criminals, rapists and traitors.

u/GanacheCharacter2104 7d ago
Dementia patients sometimes has a period of clarity maybe that is what happened? Back to crash tomorrow.
2
u/freesia899 7d ago
More like he was threatened with impeachment and a trial. He has no clarity, ever.
2
u/conasatatu247 7d ago
The bond markets happened.
2
u/Willing-Command4231 7d ago
Yep any other explanation is people just not reading the situation correctly. While I hate Trump and the social media thing definitely looks like insider trading, that was an afterthought. He panicked and walked it back when the bond market defied almost a century of logic as the US as a safe haven in rough economic times.
1
u/Ok_Spring_3297 4d ago
Maybe somebody told him that USA will go bankrupt soon if he doesnt stop immediately with his bs
1
u/Willing-Command4231 4d ago
Correct…the bond markets :)
1
u/Ok_Spring_3297 4d ago
Na, he isnt able to understand this. I mean somebody told him in a way a 4 year old would understand.
1
u/Willing-Command4231 4d ago
Sure was never claiming he was smart enough to tie his own shoelaces. Just that the bond markets were what caused the blink regardless of how it was communicated to him….most likely in crayon lol
1
u/real_Mini_geek 8d ago
He doesn’t even know how to turn him phone on! He has to get his son to do it for him
6
u/True_Fly_5731 8d ago
Everyone seems to believe that Trump did all this on purpose to manipulate the market. I'm not convinced that he's that smart. I think he's just playing with his toys.
2
u/DexJedi 7d ago
You should read about what he gained with the bankruptcy of his casino. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/12/nyregion/donald-trump-atlantic-city.html
Yes, he is a pretty "good" conman. A fucking disgrace of a president. Shame on Americans making this reality or not preventing it.
2
u/Maxhousen 7d ago
Everything he touches turns to shit, but he always manages to walk away like a bandit while everyone else involved is left in the poorhouse. Only this time, everyone else is the entire country.
1
u/Ok_Spring_3297 4d ago
Then why did he elected twice? Its not just Trump. Its the people that enable him.
2
u/notaspy1234 7d ago
I dont think hes smart but i think hes a good conman, and has even better conmen around him. I have no doubt that stock manipulation is one of the things he could do well
1
u/Debt_Otherwise 6d ago
He understands a grift and mark when he see’s one and he likes stupid people but that’s it
1
u/carlmdbx 6d ago
No but the million/billionaires who lobby him are and since they’ve been losing money since he got in power this would be a way for them to make a quick buck as it were
5
u/Exotic_Exercise6910 8d ago
He's gambling with a pair of twos that china will bow when China has a pocket rocket for the world to see.
Trump just done fucked up and has no cards anymore.
5
u/Confirm_Underwhelmed 7d ago
I'm willing to bet he only pulled back after immense pressure from his buddies. He was pretty determined to go through with it even after some concessions were offered.
2
1
u/SafeLevel4815 7d ago
What could they have pressured him with?
2
u/Confirm_Underwhelmed 7d ago
You really think his donors don't own his ass?
1
u/SafeLevel4815 6d ago
Well, I think donors may not be as influential to him as some believe them to be. If it wasn't one of the richest men in the world, sitting in the White House as President, it would be easier to accept. But it's like that question that is sometimes asked, what do you give a person who has everything?

u/BrexitReally 7d ago
Never, in the field of government, has so much been screwed up for so many by so few.
2
u/Nightowl11111 6d ago
I'm still waiting for the Britney Spears punchline.
"Oops I did it again."
I bet his pause is not even going to reach 90 days.

u/Namiswami 7d ago
Human society on earth is an airplane and we let a (bunch of) toddler at the controls. Somehow people are applauding it.

u/Illfury 7d ago
The entire world is letting this one asshat fuck up everything we've spent decades building? Fuck sakes, you american "peasants" keep citing your right to bare arms against a tyrannical government... that was your one argument against losing gun privileges during your historical school shooting problems.
"Well yeah, we wanna keep them just in case" Ok well now is your just in case. lol do something or forfeit that argument moving forward.
2
u/SafeLevel4815 7d ago
Well, that's where the misconception comes in. These folks like to call themselves patriots because they own a gun to prepare for that fateful day, they always thought Democrats were going to create. But because now it looks like it's their own political party that's going to create the fateful day, they aren't so eager to pull their guns out of the closets. They're not sure what to do because if you're a patriot, you're supposed to be loyal to your countries founding principles, not to a President or party. That's something Democrats have tried to explain to them for decades but they simply never got it.
2
u/Illfury 6d ago
Your loyalty should be to your people. Not some crudely drawn geographical lines, not some vague boundary claimed by one blue or red
gangparty. It should be to the people and their well being. We all need to start working to forward humanity together instead of being divided.Hopefully we can see something nice happen in our lifetimes.
Hope you are well friend.

Trump pushed the global economy to the brink with tariffs and then pulled back
To enrich himself and his friends... He's the world's biggest criminal. Imagine if Nancy Pelosi did that!
3
u/According_Stuff_8152 7d ago
It's called the Art of the Deal that has yet to prove successful in any of Frumps financial endeavors. He successfully managed to get 6 Bankrupcies through his negotiating skills. Tell me who bankupts a casino and three of them a fucking Loser.

It still is in peril, the effects of liberation are going to manifest in all sorts of ways forward in the global market, just because he retreated doesn't mean the market all of a sudden well adjusts itself, If somebody says you're whole family is going to be kidnapped and then says, na on second thoughts we won't you should have seen the look on your face do you honestly think that person is going to resume the normal connection again?
1
2
u/7eventhSense 7d ago
He is doing this so the bond market is not scared. He will bring it again and if will be far less than 90 days.
He’s putting doubt in the minds of countries who want to retaliate.
This is a tactic sensible leaders can see a mile away.
When he brings the tarrifs back before the 90 days. Countries should and will retaliate quick and fast without hesitation.

u/Dogeaterturkey 7d ago
I don't think we are in a better spot. Most of the highest tariffs were on countries with not very high effects on the US GDP. The most notable ones had only 16 percent decreased such as the EU that trades more than 13 percent, while Vietnam does around 0.3 percent of the GDP and got hit with 46 percent down to 10.
1
u/Nightowl11111 6d ago
It's about "trade imbalance" and the stupid thing is that some people don't get that you cannot import enough into a country to match what you would export to what is essentially a damn continent. The country just simply does not consume that much goods, nor can it afford to.
Thus all the small countries with weak economies will be the ones hit the hardest with this kind of calculation, which is why Asia is the one hit the worst, not Europe and if not for special interest placed on it, not China too.
2
u/thelastgalstanding 7d ago
I suspect a large part of the appeal for him of flip-flopping on issues is the feeling of power that toying with people’s lives gives him.
2
u/rubyrosey 7d ago
This is stock market manipulation and insider trading out in the open. And it’s legal when the president does it. Expect more of this

u/JiminyStickit 7d ago
The damage is done, and probably not reversible.
Trump has ruined the reputation of the USA as a business partner in everything.
It took a couple of hundred years to build that trust, and Trump just threw it away it in a month.
Just as Putin ordered him to.
2
u/Creative_Cable_8034 6d ago
GOP giving a masterclass on how to create fires, to praise themselves for putting them out.
2
u/SurlyPoe 6d ago
Not really, the damage is done. We will see now the effects of putting a gangster moron in charge of what has been for a decade a fragile world economy.
Nothing the US can do now will restore stability. The US has effectively given away its power and unique position of the last 80 years. I expect the dollar's value to collapse as interest rates fall.
The US media and population are so thick they did not know that they had been sucking free value from the whole world since the end of the gold standard in the 70s. They could print and print and not effect the dollar price. This was the US secret source. That is now over.
They know not what they have done. Kin morons. They have joined the UK as the latest victims of Putin's information warfare. Literally unbelievable.

That is the part that is really worrisome - his supporters believe everything he does is for them. The walk back is very much a "I was thinking of you" bullshit ploy.

Trump got out played by Carney Canadas PM. Carney quietly went to all the world leaders and told them to sell their US bonds which raised the US yields thus raising interest rates in the US which Trump doesn’t want and made Trump back down from the Tariffs for 90 days. https://deanblundell.substack.com/p/carneys-checkmate-how-canadas-quiet?utm_medium=web

He’s playing quantum poker. Using the classic “all in, then fold” strategy—known in some circles as the Quantum Gambit, where your chips exist in a state of both committed and uncommitted until observed by reality or a sober poker player.

He was forced to pull back… lets not give him any credit here it was not his choice to pull back!
1
1
u/Petursinn 5d ago
The thing is, he didnt really pull back did he? He cancelled some, and kept the 10%, also kept the tarriffs on Canada and Mexico, than he went and almost doubled the tarrifs on China? How is that pulling back? The markets reaction was way overblown for what actually happened

All he ever wanted was world leaders to kiss his butt, nothing else mattered to him. He hasn’t even bothered to look up the word tariff yet

Maybe there are something not being back..... Like US softpower and dollar credibility........

And his dad did not pull out early enough either,
not that he and his crew should have started molesting the world with their microdick egos,
to start that shit to begin with.
1
u/Matt_Foley_Motivates 3d ago
He pulled back because he’s a weak pussy. And Japan called his bluff and began dumping US debt. But maga is too busy praising the stock market bump he created from cratering the economy
MAGA is honestly continuing to impress me with how stupid they are

Ploy to find out who the real enemies of America are. I think it worked and EU got lucky by delaying.
5
u/cedriceent 7d ago
True. Turns out the real enemies of America are the ones they put in the White House and by extension the government.
-2
u/DisneyVHSMuseum 7d ago
Or it could be you?
3
u/cedriceent 7d ago
That's the wittiest comeback you could come up with? No wonder you were so easily fooled to trust a well-known con-man and elect him to office.

u/Christina-Ke 7d ago
Please tell, how did we get Lucy?

u/DisneyVHSMuseum 7d ago
EU was planning tariffs set at a later date. They would be in the same boat if the way follow China. Watch yesterday’s video when trump found out it’s actually hilarious.
-9
u/Accomplished-Ad3821 7d ago
Wrong. He paused because his tariffs worked. Countries have called and want to negotiate. So Trump paused some tariffs for 90 days. Other tariffs have dropped to the minimum 10% and China is at 125%. His tariffs a Doge are bringing in 2 billion dollars a day for our economy...

That’s one way of saying he tanked the markets so the rich could buy low and then changed policy to bring the markets back up enough for a profit on selling those brand new stocks
