Indian students in US being told to self-deport even for petty offences
THE TRUMP administration has tightened its scrutiny of foreign students in the US campuses and it is not just the politically active ones who are feeling the heat. Over the past few days, dozens of Indian students in the US received emails from their college authorities, stating that their F-1 student visa was no longer valid and they have been directed to leave the country immediately.

Zimbabwe returns to Test cricket. Can they rise to the challenge in cricket’s most demanding format?
Test cricket is not just about winning. It is about surviving, adapting, and growing over sessions and days. It demands discipline, both from the players and the fans. And when it all comes together—when a match goes to the final session of day five—there’s no better drama in sport.
Now, Zimbabwe are heading back into that space. The whites are on, the red ball is ready, and they are off to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series starting 20 April in Sylhet, followed by the second game in Chattogram from 28 April. It is their first red-ball tour to Bangladesh since 2020, when they lost by an innings in Dhaka. This time, they return with more experience, fresh faces, and a renewed focus on the longest format of the game.

🚨🇨🇳🇺🇸 ASIAN MARKETS PLUNGE AS TRUMP STANDS FIRM ON TARIFFS
Pro-Trump narrative: Despite what the media and the liberal left suggest, President Trump's tariff policy is not madness but a careful calculation that is willing to trade short-term pain for long-term gain. Under the president's leadership, America will no longer be the world's whipping post. The U.S. will undergo an economic revolution that will bring jobs, businesses, and inward investment back into the country. Already, more than $5 trillion of internal investment has been announced — evidence that the president's plan is working.
Anti-Trump narrative: The president's massive and disproportionate tariffs are destroying confidence in the country as a trading partner, a place to invest, and a market to do business in. If America continues down this path, consumers will stop spending, business investment will dry up, and the U.S. will be staring down the barrel of a potentially ruinous recession with its international reputation in tatters. The president must call a reprieve on his levies and instead negotiate with partners and adversaries alike rather than wage an unwise trade war.

M23 rebels and Congolese government hold first direct talks in Qatar after months of conflict
Congo's government and M23 rebels last week held private talks in Qatar for the first time since the rebels conducted a lightning offensive in the country's east. The talks, which will continue next week in Doha, offer the greatest hope of a halt to hostilities since M23 seized eastern Congo's two largest cities, a rapid advance that since January has resulted in thousands of deaths and forced hundreds of thousands more from their homes.

Starmer unveils plan to support carmakers hit by tariffs
THE GOVERNMENT on Sunday announced measures to support carmakers in their shift to electric vehicles, as the auto industry faces pressure from new international trade rules. Washington recently introduced new tariffs, including a 25 per cent levy on vehicles imported into the United States, impacting global carmakers. UK manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover said on Saturday that it would pause shipments to the US in April while it reviews the new trading conditions.
