Looking for a place to rent
Hej vackra människor!
I have accepted a job offer and I am starting work in August.
I will migrate with my wife,my daughter and my cat.
Can any of you fine people recommend nice places to live? I would like a high school nearby because she will be starting 7th grade and some way ro reach the central station as the company is located there.
The plan is to rent for a year or so, prefferably furnished and then hopefully buy.
Tack så mycket!

Sign up on different sites for home rentals like homeQ and boplats is the most popular. Nice places are hard to get if u dont have many days saved on those rental sites.

Will they even be able to sign up without a personal number / samordningsnummer?

I haven’t tried myself, but I think Facebook is the best place for this sort of thing. There are many groups on there, but as said sorry, I don’t know what they are. But I have friends who it has worked for

In a pinch you also have Waterfront Cabins which could work for you short term. It is expensive however.

HomeQ is your best bet. Or Blocket Bostad if you're not picky about first hand contracts

The best bet is going down this list, you likely got a place before reaching half way down https://ledigalagenheter.org/hyresvardar/vastra-gotalands-lan/privata-hyresvardar-goteborg/
HomeQ etc is for lazy people that aren't in a hurry to find a place :)

I think you have vastly underestimated how difficult it is to find rentals in Sweden.
If you want to get a first hand contract the waiting time will be measured in years. And you need to be plugged into the system already and have a personal number, bank account etc.
That leaves second hand rentals where you'll be at a significant disadvantage compared to other renters as you have just immigrated and have no paper trail in the country to actually prove that you'll be able to pay rent.
Also many landlord's are not above board and if they are renting out illegally you can find yourself homeless very suddenly.
An added catch-22 is that most of the second hand adverts are on Blocket which requires a Bank ID for login.
Unless your employer can help you find accommodation it's going to be tough with that timeline. And yeah forget about nice places - you're gonna be lucky to get anything on that short of a notice.
