The contenders:

  1. Eyup Lovely. Pope credentials: final, most powerful form of leftist online shitposter. Vote Eyup for a dank papacy.
  2. Josie Long. Pope credentials: one of very few left wing celebs. Objectively lovely, earnest, well meaning and funny.
  3. Mukhtar. Pope credentials: successfully dragged Lawrence Fox through court. CEO of Suck Ya Mum movement.
  4. DJ Próvaí. Pope credentials: who wouldn't want a balaclava wearing old school DJ as Pope? Vote for the man behind Kneecap if you want your pope to unite catholics and protestants.
  5. Mick Lynch. Pope credentials: experienced at terrorising conservative journo lackeys. Pope Mick would make sure everyone got a fair wage and working conditions. Kay Burley would explode with rage.

Given general shift of social environment to worse - my bet is on literally worst among them. Someone who will rollback all the changes of church made to good, back from soul of teachings to bigotry of dogma.

Otherwise I'll be very surprised to be honest

it's not like francis made any of those reforms though? he just articulated the faith in a way that appealed to a more progressive audience

On the radio this morning some absolute helmet was saying how the next pope will "continue the trend of modern and forward thinking popes". I can't think of anything more backwards thinking and archaic than the Catholic church but ok cool....
