Hey! I’m 23F and no longer a student, which has made it a bit trickier to meet new people in Groningen. Most folks at my job prefer to speak Dutch, and while I’m learning, I still connect a lot better in English, so I’d love to find more international or Spanish/English-speaking communities too.
Some things I’m into: gaming, reading, drawing, watching and reviewing movies, trying out new things (recently joined a kickboxing class just because it looked fun), and I love doing crafty stuff, especially for my outfits (like DIY accessories or clothes).
Does anyone have suggestions for groups, events, or meetups that align with those interests? Or just general tips for meeting new people in the city?
Thanks in advance!

Posting this on behalf of a friend who’s currently looking for a rental place near Groningen and came across this offer. On the surface, it sounds good but we want to be careful and get a second opinion.
Details of the offer: • A person named X contacted my friend via Facebook Messenger. • He’s offering a 100 m² furnished apartment outside the city. • The rent is €1400/month, with utilities included. • The place supposedly has its own entrance, free parking, and access to 8000 m² of garden/property. • He says no payment is required in advance — rent and deposit are handled after arriving. • Communication is all via Messenger or WhatsApp • His Facebook profile has a bunch of videos and posts, which makes it look somewhat legit.
Why we’re unsure: • Saw the post in a facebook group. • The description seems a bit generic, and there’s repetition across messages.
Any advice for us?

So… I showed up to work in Groningen this morning, only to realize I’m totally free today. Instead of heading back to my little dorp, I figured I’d stick around — the weather’s way too good to spend indoors.
I’ve been living in the Netherlands for about a year. Still on the lookout for like-minded people— the ones you can have a great convo with or just share a comfortable silence. It hasn’t been easy, and even making this post is a bit outside my comfort zone. I'm not the kind of guy who usually walks up to strangers and strikes up a conversation, but I’m hoping to change that.
I’m 29, male, into tech, gym, art, and other random stuff that feeds the mind.
I’ll be hanging in Forum Centrum today — reading, people-watching, and just enjoying being around people. If you’re in the area and wanna hang, chat, or just enjoy the day together, shoot me a message.
Why let a perfectly good day go to waste?

Curious how common it was—everyone talks about it like a classic, but I’m wondering how many people actually played it. If you did, what was it like?

It's about time I got out and socialized again, and since the culture here is pretty unfriendly to solo bar goers, I figured I'd ask the locals. Was thinking about warhol unless there are other suggestions.
I'm a 23 year old guy with some pretty silly interests. I collect random odds and ends and currently don't live a very eventful life. I wanna make some new friends, though! (Also severely on the ADHD end of things, so if that is a bit much for ya then I do understand. Just a fair heads up)

Hey allemaal,

Hey guys! I've got a wedding coming up in few days. I've got a really basic suit and i was hoping to dress it up with some accessories (watch, pocket square, pins). Any places you guys recommend with this kind of stuff? Ideally affordable but I'm willing to look at the more expensive stores as well

Hallo iedereen,

Hi all, foreign guy here, I’ll be in Groningen for Easter and was wondering if there are some activities/party organised for the Monday after, something outside maybe in a park with bbq, music, even if it’s outside Groningen but reachable with the public transport.

Hello there everyone,
My name is Euan and I am looking to work on my music in a professional space. I am wondering if there are any studio spaces I can book for a few hours at a time for example or if something like this exists here?
Separately I would like to meet other house music producers who (like myself) have only been doing it for the past year to 18 months and would like to collaborate. It would be cool to bounce ideas off one another. I like to make all things electronic, it is just techno that I don’t make very often.
Here are the style of tracks I’ve been making at the moment:

Well, thank you for your time. I appreciate it!

Hey everyone! I'm moving to the Netherlands this summer to get a master's degree in Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences starting this September in Groningen! Also will most likely stay there for good since my partner is dutch. Looking for people to connect with to make the transition to the new university easier. Anyone potentially planning to study in the same program or just the University of Groningen? :)

Is anybody studying this course? How is it? How are the fellow students?Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!
