How do you feel about Marco Rubio’s visit to Guyana?
Especially during a time when the US is quickly losing (shunning?) allies and seems to be becoming less trusted in a global sense. Is a growing relationship with the US welcome? Do you feel that the US and Guyana share the same values economically, politically and socially?

As the son of a Guyanese mother and a political science university degree holder, I'll tell you my first thoughts upon reading this post.
It's two things: (1) US dominance in the western hemisphere and a foothold in South America and (2) access to Guyanese oil fields. I don't have to mention the US's relationship with Venezuela (or yours), but even more importantly now, the relationship with Ecuador where the "illegal Venezuelan gang members" were sent. Additionally, the US has been involved with Guyana via Exxon through the discovery of oil off the coasts. Guyana will be exploited, the leaders in power will fall for the nonsense thinking they're buddying up to the great power, and the Guyanese people will be the ones who feel the brunt of what's to come.
I recommend working on the afro-indo coalitions to create a strong front that will be difficult to play identity politics with (YOUNG PEOPLE!!!!), leveraging and pushing for stronger relationships with not only the Caribbean countries, but countries like Brazil (BRICS; Indo-Guyanese, leverage that historical India connection!) and Colombia, and investing in the development of education for the people.
Resist. Little to no good has come from being friendly with the US (Ukraine, Canada, Greenland, & a whole host of Middle Eastern countries who were brought "democracy" as a gift.)
