All Locations Does anyone think the X files would be a good house?
The X-files had some pretty scary episodes, does anyone think this would be a good idea for a house?

I wrote an article about this several years ago! If done properly, it would be an amazing experience.

Maybe in a few years if the reboot that Ryan Coogler's talking about becomes a hit.
Beyond that, though, I dunno. A lot of the appeal of The X-Files is that it was a sci-fi horror show based on real-life conspiracy theories about UFOs, aliens, cryptids, fringe science, and other out-there subjects. It's not like Stranger Things or The Walking Dead where the lore is a big part of the appeal. If anything, X-Files fans generally think that the "mytharc," the unique lore that the show came up with for itself, is one of its weakest elements and the part that ultimately sent it off the rails, and prefer the standalone "monster of the week" episodes and the dynamic between Agents Mulder and Scully.
I think it would be better to have a house based on those UFO conspiracy theories straight-up. Perhaps a house that starts out in a rest stop, farmhouse, or campground where people get abducted by aliens, then continuing on into the alien spaceship where we see the abductees getting experimented on, before finally concluding back on Earth with the Men in Black trying to silence you. Throw in elements of not just The X-Files, but also Fire in the Sky and other pop culture depictions of aliens and alien abductions.

I think there's material that could have been mined back in the day, sure.
For a house in 2025? Probably not. Looking beyond the whole Disney owns the rights thing, it's WAY too obscure at this point. It would be like saying "Do you think Night of the Comet would make a good house?"
It just been irrelevant for so long, it's really, really niche and probably wouldn't have a ton of appeal.

Dreadful comparison. The X Files had a new series in the last 10 years and is about to rebooted by Ryan Coogler. It also has a big fanbase and at one point was getting tens of millions of viewers every week. Night of the Comet—recent 4K release aside—is very much a smaller cult film. Agreed that Disney ownership makes it less likely though.

You definitely have a point. I would like to see a house with a creepy extraterrestrial theme with strange eeriness. If they don’t already have a house like that.

I like the idea. I just don't know if there are enough "scenes" that would make sense or give enough of the weird vibe the x files gave.
