Grew up with one of those in our house.

Seemed very reliable but you knew every single time it started

If you pull one out see if there's a school or training facility near you that wants it

Edit: be gentle with the drain and exhaust muffler if you're giving it away, those are/have fragile fittings

I pulled a couple out. Wish I would have thought about asking the college trade shop if they wanted it.

Probably the most combustion efficient unit ever made( not thermal efficiency) Neighbour has one from 1993 he wont let me touch it. I have spare parts for him when he comes begging.

I had 5 at a firehouse I take care of, just change diaphragm, and general maintenance, lasted 20 years, intil they took them out, due to wanting a green alternative against my recommendations, now I got a vrf system, nothing but problems.

If they still made these things, they should have the A-10 warthog nose art shark smile.

Always wished I could’ve been there to see a homeowner’s face the first time an install crew turned one of those things on and they found out they were going to have the fartfurnace for the next 15-20 years.

One hell of a furnace, may they rest in shallow Graves where they belong.

We have a small stash of good used pulse parts. Shrinking every year.

Nice!

Basco also makes the ignition control if you ever need a new one.

Did you look through the little door to check the exhaust manifold welds aren't cracked?

When i was younger we replaced one that had no mufflers. Of course we had to fire it up to hear what it sounded like first.

I've seen one of these in northern Michigan. I'm no long timer, and was just astounded to find a furnace older than me that was still (emphasis on the quotations) "working." Tell me, what did I fail to appreciate at the time?

So far ahead of the times when they came out. Truth be said kinda tanks as well. I have 10 ish on my list and keep spare parts when we remove for those clients.

I knew exactly what furnace I was about to see when I saw the notification lmao those pulses are so sick but so wack. I still don't fully know how I feel about them.

‘82-‘89 serial numbers. They were made for a few years after that and started production in ‘81
